I don't know about the Mahdi but the second coming of Hadrath Isa(as) has certainly been prophesised in the Qur'an. To be saved in the world Muslim's must united for Allah will not change our condition until we do so ourselves.

Hadith 1
Thawban said, "The Prophet said: 'Three men will be killed at the place where your treasure is. Each of them will be the son of a Khalifah, and none of them will get hold of the treasure. Then black banners will come out of the east...' If you see him, go and give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi.'"
This hadith is reported in Sunan Ibn Majah vol 3 number 4084
in 'Kitab al-Fitan, Baab Kharuj al-Mahdi' and 'Mustadrak' al-Hakim. Hakim classified it as saheeh on the conditions set by al-Bukhari and Muslim and al-Dhahabi agreed. Ibn Kathir wrote about it in his 'al-Nihaya (al-Fitan wa al-Malahim)' that its isnaad is 'qawii' (strong). al-Albani considers some of the chains as unacceptable, but writes the hadith is correct in meaning without the addition, 'he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi.' He rates the isnaad of Ibn Majah from 'Alqama from Ibn Mas'ud as hasan which does not have the words, 'khalifa-tullah.' He then goes on to discuss why this addition is not acceptable. ('Silsilah al-Ahadeeth al-Da'eefah wa al-Maudu'a', vol 1, p. 195-198, Hadith #85)
Muslim :: Book 41 : Hadith 6979
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle (may peace he upon him) saying: You have heard about a city the one side of which is in the land and the other is in the sea (Constantinople). They said: Allah's Messenger, yes. Thereupon he said: The Last Hour would not come unless seventy thousand persons from Bani lsra'il would attack it. When they would land there, they will neither fight with weapons nor would shower arrows but would only say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that one side of it would fall. Thaur (one of the narrators) said: I think that he said: The part by the side of the ocean. Then they would say for the second time:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest" that the second side would also fall, and they would say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that the gates would be opened for them and they would enter therein and, they would be collecting spoils of war and distributing them amongst themselves that a noise would be heard and It would be said: Verily, ****** has come. And thus they would leave everything there and would turn to him.
Remember that Bani israel are either Arabs, in the West or Either the lost tribes in the East which resides in Khurasan.
Muslim :: Book 41 : Hadith 7035
Umm Sharik reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The people would run away from the ****** seeking shelter in the mountains. She said: Where would be the Arabs then in that day? He said: They would be small in number.
Sunan Ibn Majah, v2, Tradition #4082
The Prophet (PBUH ) said: "We (I and my family) are members of a household that Allah (SWT) has chosen for them the life of the Hereafter over the life of this world; and the members of my household (Ahlul-Bayt) shall suffer a great affliction and they shall be forcefully expelled from their homes after my death; then there will come people from the East carrying black flags, and they will ask for some good to be given to them, but they shall be refused service; as such, they will wage war and emerge victorious, and will be offered that which they desired in the first place, but they will refuse to accept it till they pass it to a man from my family (Ahlul-Bayt) appears to fill the Earth with justice as it has been filled with corruption. So whoever reaches that (time) ought to come to them even if crawling on the ice/snow since among them is the Vice-regent of Allah (Khalifatullah) al-Mahdi."

Another Narration
On the authority of Thawban, the Messenger of Allah (upon whom be blessings and peace) said:
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "Before your treasure, three will kill each other -- all of them are sons of a different caliph but none will be the recipient. Then the Black Banners will appear from the East and they will kill you in a way that has never before been done by a nation." Thawban, a companion said: 'Then he said something that I do not remember by heart' then continued to say that the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, said: "If you see him give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because surely he is the Caliph of Allah, the Mahdi. If you see the black (meaning war) flags coming from Khurasan, join that army, even if you have to crawl over ice, for this is the army of the Caliph, the Mahdi and no one can stop that army until it reaches Jerusalem."

Some Arabs will fight with Mahdi [a.s] and they will be defeated

Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu'minin:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Disagreement will occur at the death of a caliph and a man of the people of Medina will come flying forth to Mecca. Some of the people of Mecca will come to him, bring him out against his will and swear allegiance to him between the Corner and the Maqam. An expeditionary force will then be sent against him from Syria but will be swallowed up in the desert between Mecca and Medina. When the people see that, the eminent saints of Syria and the best people of Iraq will come to him and swear allegiance to him between the Corner and the Maqam.
Then there will arise a man of Quraysh whose maternal uncles belong to Kalb and send against them an expeditionary force which will be overcome by them, and that is the expedition of Kalb. Disappointed will be the one who does not receive the booty of Kalb. He will divide the property, and will govern the people by the Sunnah of their Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and establish Islam on Earth. He will remain seven years, then die, and the Muslims will pray over him.
Sahih ahadith of Muslim Armies with Black Banners to come
"Thawbaan reported that the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, 'Three will fight for the your treasure (of the Ka`bah), each of them the son of a 'Khaleefah', it will be rendered to none of them. Then from the direction of the East will emerge black flags. Then they will fight you like they have fought none before.' Then some words were spoken which I did not remember. He then said, 'If you see him, give bay`ah to him even if you must crawl over ice. For, verily, he is the 'Khaleefah' of Allah (Khaleefatullaah), the Mahdi". This Hadeeth is found in Ibn Maajah, Ahmad's Musnad, al-Haakim's Mustadrak and others.
After analysing the chain of narration found in Ibn Maajah's Sunan the narrators are in the following authentic unbroken reliable chain:
1) Reported to Ibn Maajah by both Muhammad bin Yahya and Ahmad bin Yusuf - Both reliable; Imam Muslim has said about Ahmad bin Yusuf, "He is reliable (thiqqah)." an-Nasaa'i has said, "There is no problem in him." ad-DaraaquTni has said, "Reliable and noble (thiqqah nabeel)."
2) `Abdur-Razzaq bin Hammaam as-San`aani - Reliable. Ahmad bin Hanbal was asked about him, "Have you seen anyone better in Hadeeth than `Abdur-Razzaaq?" He replied, "No".
3) Sufyaan ath-Thawri - Too reputable to record his merits. Very reliable. Shu`bah, Sufyaan bin `Uyaynah, Abu `AaSim an-Nabeel and YaHya ibn Ma`een among others said: "Sufyaan is the 'Ameer al-Mu'mineen" of Hadeeth"!
4) Khaalid bin Mahraan al-Hathaa' - Reliable. Ahmad bin Hanbal has said, "Trustworthy (thabt)." Ibn Ma`een and an-Nasaa'i have both said, "Reliable (thiqqah)."
5) Abi Qulaaba Abdullaah bin Zayd al-Harrami - Reliable. Muhammad bin Sa`d has said in his "at-Tabaqah ath-Thaaniyah min Ahl al-Basrah" about him, "He was reliable (thiqqah)."
6) Abu Asmaa' `Amroo bin Marthad ar-RaHabi - Reliable. al-`Ijly has said about him, "Shaami, Tabi`ee, Reliable (thiqqah)."
7) Thawbaan - Companion and servant of the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam).
8) The Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam). ["Tahtheeb al-Kamaal" of al-Mizzi and "Tahtheeb at-Tahtheeb" of Ibn Hajar were referenced for verification of the Narrators]
In this chain of narrators, weakness is nowhere in sight, subhan'allah.

Traditions from Al Bayan Fee Akhbaris Sahebazzaman
Ali Hilali narrates from his father – When I went to see Holy Prophet (pbuh), he was on his death bed. I saw that Hazrat Fatema (sa) was beside his bed and was crying loudly. Holy Prophet (pbuh) asked Hazrat Fatema (sa), “Oh my beloved! Why are you crying?” She replied, “I am crying because I will lose you.” The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said to her: O Fatemah! We Ahlebayt have been bestowed with 7 characteristics with which no one was bestowed before us and no one will be bestowed after us. I am the last of prophet and the best of creation in front of Allah. My successor is the best of all successors and the most beloved one of Allah and he is your husband. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and beloved of Allah and he is Hamza ibne Abdul Muttalib, the uncle of your father and the uncle of your husband. And from us is the one who is bestowed with two wings with which he flies wherever he wills with the angels in Paradise and he is the son of the uncle of your father and the brother of your husband and from us are the chiefs of this nation and they are your sons, Hasan and Husain and they are the chiefs of the youth of Paradise and their father is better than both of them. Oh Fatemah!, by the one who raised me, surely from them is the Mahdi for this nation.
[h=1]عن الهلال عن أبيه قال: دخلت علي رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله في شكاته التي قبض فيها فاذا فاطمة عليها السلام عند رأسه قال: فبكت حتي ارتفع صوتها فرفع رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله طرفه اليها فقال: حبيبي فاطمة ما الذي يبكيك؟ فقالت: أخشي الضيعة من بعدك فقال: يا حبيبي أما علمت أن الله تعالي اطلع إلي الأرض (علي الأرض) اطلاعة فاختار منها أباك فبعثه برسالته، ثم اطلع اطلاعة فاختار بعلك،وأوحي ألي أن أنكحك إياه، يا فاطمة و نحن أهل بيت قد أعطانا الله سبع خصال لم تعط أخدا قبلنا ةلا تعطي أحدا بعدنا، أنا خاتم النبيين وأكرم النبيين علي الله وأحب المخلوقين ألي الله وأنا أبوك، ووصيي خير الأوصياء وأخبهم إلي الله وهو بعلك (وشهيدنا خير الشهداء وأحبهم إلي الله عز وجل وهو حمزة بن عبد المطلب عم أبيك وعم بعلك). ومنا من له جناحان أخضران يكير في الجنة مع الملائكة حيث يشاء وهو اين عم أبيك وأخو بعلك، ومنا سبطا هذه الأمة وهما ابناك الحسن والحسين وهما سيدا شباب أهل الجنة. وأبوهماوالذي بعثي بالحقخير المنهما. يا فاطمة والذي بعثي بالحق أن منهما مهدي هذه الأمة[/h]Ref: Al Bayan, chapter 1, page 90
The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, this world will not come to an end until a man will rule the Arabs whose name will be similar to my name.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, if there remains only a single day from the Hour (Qiyamat), Allah will raise a man from my Ahlul Bayt who will fill the world with justice as it will be filled with tyranny.”
[h=1]عن النبي صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: لو لم بيق من الدهر إلا يوم لبعث الله رجلاً من أهل بيتي يملأها عدلاً كما ملئت جورً[/h]Ref : Al Bayan, chapter 1, page 93
The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, O Fatemah ! Our prophet is the best of all prophets and he is your father. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and he is uncle of your father (Hamza). From us is the one who has two wings with which he flies anywhere in paradise and he is the son of your uncle (Jafar) and from us are the chiefs of this nation, Hasan and Husain, and they are your sons and from us is the Mahdi.

The Holy Prophet(pbuh) said, Al Mahdi is from my progeny and from the sons of Fatemah.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Al Mahdi is from us Ahlulbayt. Allah will set his affairs in one night.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, We, the sons of Abdul Muttalib are the chiefs of people of paradise and they are I, Hamza, Ali, Jafar, Hasan, Husain and the Mahdi.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, If you see the Mahdi, then pay allegiance (do bayat) to him even if you have to crawl on ice because he is the caliph of Allah.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, A group of people will come from the east and will prepare the ground for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, The Mahdi is in my nation. He will live for 5, 7 or 9 years. A man will come and ask him: “Give me something”. The Mahdi will give him so much that he will not be able to carry it.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, a severe calamity will befall the people. Then Allah will raise from my progeny (from my Ahlul Bayt) a man who will fill the earth with equity and justice just as it would be filled with tyranny. Dwellers of heaven and earth will love him. Heaven will send down rain and the earth will give out (throw) its vegetation. He will live for 7 years.

Allah will help him through 3,000 angels who will assist him against his enemies.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, the Hour (Qiyamat) will not be established until a man from my progeny (Ahlul Bayt) will rule and conquer Constantinople. If a single day remains of this world, Allah will prolong that day to such an extent that he would conquer it.

Ali Hilali narrates from his father – When I went to see Holy Prophet (pbuh), he was on his death bed. I saw that Hazrat Fatema (sa) was beside his bed and was crying loudly. Holy Prophet (pbuh) asked Hazrat Fatema (sa), “Oh my beloved! Why are you crying?” She replied, “I am crying because I will lose you.” The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said to her: O Fatemah! We Ahlebayt have been bestowed with 7 characteristics with which no one was bestowed before us and no one will be bestowed after us. I am the last of prophet and the best of creation in front of Allah. My successor is the best of all successors and the most beloved one of Allah and he is your husband. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and beloved of Allah and he is Hamza ibne Abdul Muttalib, the uncle of your father and the uncle of your husband. And from us is the one who is bestowed with two wings with which he flies wherever he wills with the angels in Paradise and he is the son of the uncle of your father and the brother of your husband and from us are the chiefs of this nation and they are your sons, Hasan and Husain and they are the chiefs of the youth of Paradise and their father is better than both of them. Oh Fatemah!, by the one who raised me, surely from them is the Mahdi for this nation.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, the Hour (Qiyamat) will not be established until a man from my progeny (Ahlul Bayt) will rule and conquer Constantinople. If a single day remains of this world, Allah will prolong that day to such an extent that he would conquer it.

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Surely the Khulafa, successors and Hujjatullah (proofs of Allah) upon the creation after me are 12, the first of whom is my brother and the last one is my son. It was asked: O prophet of Allah (pbuh), who is your brother? He replied, Ali Ibn Abi Talib. Then it was asked, who is your son? Sunnan Ib Maja (Vol,1 page 517 Al Tazia,Egypt) cited the following tradition from
Narrated by Alqamah from Abdullah bin Masood:
One day we were sitting with Holy Prophet(s) whwn some children from the house of Bani Hashim came there.When the Holy Prophet(s) saw them,tears welled up in his eyes and he became pale.
Ibn Masood said that he told the Holy Prophet(s)"Your face reflects axiety".The Holy Prophet(s) stated:"Exalted God has granted us,the Ahlulbait,Hereafter instead of wordly pleasure.
After me,soon my Ahlubait will face calamity,harship and misery till people having black flags will rise from East and seek justice,which will be denied them.They will wage war,they will be supported and will be given what they were demanding.They will not accept until it is handed over to one from our Ahlulbait (i.e. Mahdi) .He will fill the earth with justice as it was filled with unjustice.Whoever amongst you is alive at that period,should try to reach them even if he has to tread on ince in that persuit."
Talibani/Deobandi Claim
1)They claim that in ancient time "Khurassan" was indicated as "Khurasaan-e-Buzurg" and it consisted of Areas of Afghanistan (while Present Khurasaan contains sacred City of Mashhad)
Wahabi Deobandies are doing a lot of Propaganda in Pakistan now-a-days by using this hadith. Therefore, let us analyse this hadith so that Batil should be made clear. Insha-Allah.
ANALYSIS of This Hadith
1) People of Ahle Bait (family of Prophet) will face calamity.(While Nasibi Deobandi Sapah Sahaba deny calamity of Fatima (salam Allah Alaiha), and also believe that YAZID is promised for Paradise..... )
1.1) Rasool Allah started weeping upon the calmities of Ahle Bait, but here is Sapah Sahaba who never weeps for what happened to Hussain
in Karbala.
Just see who are Ahle Bait? Were it wives of Muhammad (saw) who were driven out of their homes ? Or were it progeny of Muhammad (saw) who faced calmities?
2) People will rise to assist them with BLACK FLAGS [Need I to tell you who are the holder of these Black Flags throughout whole History?]
3) These people will come from EAST
[Another hadith says that from EAST, it means "KHURASAAN". This hadith has been quoted by Mawlana Israr Ahmad in his book "Shia Sunni Mufahimat ki ahmiat aur zaroorat"]
4) These people are those, who are SAD FOR THE Calamitesupon Ahle Bait (family of Prophet), and they love Ahle Bait above all.
Need I still to tell you more who are the people who are SAD and thus indicated in these Ahadith of Mahdi ?
One more Hadith about Black Flags:
"Thawbaan reported that the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, 'Three will fight for the your treasure (of the Ka`bah), each of them the son of a 'Khaleefah', it will be rendered to none of them. Then from the direction of the East will emerge black flags. Then they will fight you like they have fought none before.' Then some words were spoken which I did not remember. He then said, 'If you see him, give bay`ah to him even if you must crawl over ice. For, verily, he is the 'Khaleefah' of Allah (Khaleefatullaah), the Mahdi"
This Hadeeth is found in Ibn Maajah, Ahmad's Musnad, al-Haakim's Mustadrak and others. Now when analyzing the chain of narration found in Ibn Maajah's Sunan I found the narrators to be the following:
1) Reported to Ibn Maajah by both Muhammad bin Yahya and Ahmad bin Yusuf - Both reliable; Imam Muslim has said about Ahmad bin Yusuf, "He is reliable (thiqqah)." an-Nasaa'i has said, "There is no problem in him." ad-DaraaquTni has said, "Reliable and noble (thiqqah nabeel)."
2) `Abdur-Razzaq bin Hammaam as-San`aani - Reliable. Ahmad bin Hanbal was asked about him, "Have you seen anyone better in Hadeeth than `Abdur-Razzaaq?" He replied, "No".
3) Sufyaan ath-Thawri - Too reputable to record his merits. Very reliable. Shu`bah, Sufyaan bin `Uyaynah, Abu `AaSim an-Nabeel and YaHya ibn Ma`een among others said: "Sufyaan is the 'Ameer al-Mu'mineen" of Hadeeth"!
4) Khaalid bin Mahraan al-Hathaa' - Reliable. Ahmad bin Hanbal has said, "Trustworthy (thabt)." Ibn Ma`een and an-Nasaa'i have both said, "Reliable (thiqqah)."
5) Abi Qulaaba Abdullaah bin Zayd al-Harrami - Reliable. Muhammad bin Sa`d has said in his "at-Tabaqah ath-Thaaniyah min Ahl al-Basrah" about him, "He was reliable (thiqqah)."
6) Abu Asmaa' `Amroo bin Marthad ar-RaHabi - Reliable. al-`Ijly has said about him, "Shaami, Tabi`ee, Reliable (thiqqah)."
7) Thawbaan - Companion and servant of the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam).
8) The Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam).
["Tahtheeb al-Kamaal" of al-Mizzi and "Tahtheeb at-Tahtheeb" of Ibn Hajar were referenced for verification of the Narrators]
Talibans could never become the heirs of Aale Muhammad and Mahdi
, while:
- The Taliban organization is only 20 years old.
- It has failed to achieve anything other than chaos and bloodshed.
- They do not believe in justice, only in whim.
- They are not fighting for Ahl al-bayt .
- If they believed in Mehdi they would not be so desperate.
- They are oppression, murder, ruthlessness and minionship of the lesser and greater Shaitaan.
- Their futile terrorist activity suggests that they are utter garbage and are merely a failed experiment.
One more hadith about Black Flag:
"Sunnan Abu Dawud", vol 3, page 22, Kitab-ul-Jihad, and "Tarmidhi Shareef", vol. 1, pge 528:
"There was a special flag of Rasool Allah (saw), whose name was "Uqaab" عقاب and it consisted of curtain of Aisha's house. And it's colour was black."
And in book "Tadhrikatul Khawas-ul-Ummah", page 54, it is written:
"During the war of Siffin there was a day when Muawiyyah's army killed Ammar Yasir , who was a great companion of Nabi (saw) [Sahih Bukhari, vol 1, page 94,]. Rasool (saw) told Ammar that a group of rebells will kill you. That day Mawla Ali as.gif took the (black) Alam (flag) of Nabi (saw) and came out in the battlefield. He gave this 'Alam to Qais Ibn Sa'ad ibn 'Abaada. When the Badri Sahaba (who participated in battle of Badr), and other Ansar and Mahajireen saw, they gathered under it and remembered the times of Rasool Allah (saww). They started weeping bitterly after seeing that flag."

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle (may peace he upon him) saying: You have heard about a city the one side of which is in the land and the other is in the sea (Constantinople). They said: Allall's Messenger, yes. Thererupon he said: The Last Hour would not cmoe unlesss seventy thousand persons from Bani lsra'il would attack it. When they would land there, they will neither fight with weapons nor would shower arrows but would only say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that one side of it would fall. Thaur (one of the narrators) said: I think that he said: The part by the side of the ocean. Then they would say for the second time:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest" that the second side would also fall, and they would say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that the gates would be opened for them and they would enter therein and, they would be collecting spoils of war and distributing them amongst themselves that a noise would be heard and It would be said: Verily, Daj-jal has come. And thus they would leave everything there and would turn to him. (Sahih Muslim; Book #041, Hadith #6979) source

Umm Sharik reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The people would run away from the Daj-jal seeking shelter in the mountains. She said: Where would be the Arabs then in that day? He said: They would be small in number. (Sahih Muslim;Book #041, Hadith #7035)

The above hadeeth you quoted is regarding arrival of Daj-jal NOT Imam Mehdi
