In their last regime PML-N was involved in several long run failed contracts which have resulted in the people of Pakistan paying high price for electricity, future taxes which will come due to circular debt, and load-shedding. The cited article contains publicly available government documents that show how the government signed poor long term contracts despite warnings before these contracts were signed.

How do the patwaris keep supporting this party? This is not "Khata hay to lagata bhi hay". This is "Khata hay, dakar leta hay, to thooktha bhi hay". How long will the patwaris lick PML-N's thook?

To clarify for those who don't have time to go through the documents. In the power producer 30 year license agreement it states: "Anwar Kamal Law Associates provided detailed comments and opposed the grant of generation licence to the applicant on "take or pay" basis." (Source page 5 of 12 of the license).

The take or pay agreements are those where Pakistan has to pay for electricity cost whether the power producer produces electricity or not (google the definition). The concerns of the law firm were ignored and PML-N moved forward with the license.

The argument given by the power producer and the government were that this is a license issue and not a tariff issue so lets move forward with the license. (Page 7 of 12 of the license)
