Imran khan is the leader who accept the challenges. Well done Imran Khan. Like in KPK local bodies re-election he challenged the parties to come for re-election. Then PTI got about 50% seats of districts

HARIPUR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to introduce the biometric system at 30 out of NA-19, Haripur’s 537 polling stations on an experimental basis during the upcoming elections scheduled for August 16.

Senior ECP officials dealing with the election and information technology system in Islamabad visited the DC Haripur office and held a meeting with representatives of all nine candidates and apprised them of the commission’s plans of introducing biometrics.

After a long discussion, the candidates’ representatives signed a document of consent. The ECP officials assured them that in case the voting machines do not verify thumb impressions, voters will be allowed to cast ballots manually, after verification from polling agents.
The poll is being held following the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s directive that ended the 17-month-long legal battle between the candidates of PML-N and PTI.

Good step, but the option of casting manual votes will be misused as it is being done presently, therefore this option should be done away with.

I think they will find one reason or any reason to delay and not implementing this system. any technology to stop rigging and damaging to their master they cannot afford.

ECP can try these things but these things are bound to fail on election day when there are hundred of thousands of polling booths and not enough trained staff. Telephone companies used this technology for phone sims but it takes them 3 months day & night to take people biometric. There is a reason why advance countries are still using manual ballot paper.

Anyway good luck to ECP but hope they will not end up like what happened to finger print verifications in 2013 election.

Focus should be on that whatever technogy is being adopted should work under stress and accross whole Pakistan including very remote areas otherwise there will be another dhanra drama and people will blame ECP for adopted something which did not work.

3 months means 90 days to verify like 2-3 crore sims. It means like 220,000 to 330,000 sims per day per day.. On average a constituency contains like 150,000 voters, So according to that logic it will be easily possible to verify 150,000 people in a single day, right?

My thumb verification for the sim took no more than 5 to 10 seconds, which i guess is faster than manual verification...

Still irregular behavior shouldn't be unexpected and lets see and hope for its smooth conduct..
