PM Nawaz directs interior ministry to halt executions until Sep 9

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Friday, directed the interior ministry to halt executions until September 9, reported a private news channel quoting sources.

Sharif met President Zardari Thursday night at the President House, where the head of the state told the premier that his government had stopped implementation of death sentences of several accused terrorists and criminals for five years as per the party policy. He also wished that the five-year moratorium should be put on hold until September 9, after which the government can review the decision with the new president, Mamnoon Hussain, who will assume office on September 9.

Since the authority to decide whether capital punishment should be implemented or not rests with the head of the state, Nawaz Sharif directed the interior ministry to hold the execution of death sentences until the new President takes oath. Nawaz Sharif had earlier said that he would not come under pressure from any threat related to the policy on the death penalty.The Taliban had said they will consider the executions of any of its prisoners a declaration of war.

Official figures state that Pakistan has more than 7,000 prisoners on death row, one of the largest populations of prisoners facing execution in the world.

I wana see what people think about it .. one point is if raymond davis was let free in the larger intrest of pak which is I am not agreed upon .. then why just for negociation we delay execution not relesing them.. and then it should be added in dailough that criminal will be executed under islamic law .?

Nawaz Sharif ka agenda bhi Pakistan ko lootne aur torne ka hay.

Aaj Gawadar ke baare main yeh kehna ke Gawadar ko Hong Kong ka status dia ja sakta hay

jese China ke shehri Hong Kong ke liye Visa le kar jate hain usi tarah Pakistani bhi Visa le kar

oNLY SENSABLE PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND. zARDARI IS STILL PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN TILL 8TH OF SEPTEMBER. SO HE STOPPED EXECUTIONS WHICH HE IS AUTHORITY TO DO SO. THEN GOVT HAVE TO WAIT UNTILL PRESIDENT CHANGES.
