ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has observed that electronic medias code of conduct needed to be reviewed to make it more effective, SAMAA reports.
While hearing anchors asset case, a two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, sought a list of media owners to be presented on Wednesday.
The court issued notices to eight other parties: PTA, FBR, FIA, SACP, information ministry, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Behria Town and business tycoon Malik Riaz, ordering them to submit their replies within seven days.
The court questioned what action has been taken by the PEMRA against TV channels after Malik Riazs press conference and his participation in a talk show.
To which the PEMAR council said action was taken against a private TV and a notice was sent while the Council of Complain was also looking into the matter.
The case hearing was adjourned till August 27
