It was always suspected but not proven that Islamabad traffic police collects the challan money for themselves , all of it . This is further supported by word "com" Given to Islamabad traffic police website www.islamabadtrafficpolice.com.

So this explains why traffic police has no interest in anything concerning traffic except challan at signal . At one time ordinary police used to check private vans ,now you do not see them or anyone from islamabad traffic police censure them but at end of year somehow you can see statistics showing fines on books , what an arrangement. The only interest of traffic police is in car belts fine , they are not interested in motorcycles half of them have no rear view mirrors, not more than one quarter wear helmets and perhaps a large percentage has no license , with often three riding a motorcycle. This group has highest road side traffic accident rate .

These days in Islamabad you would see gasoline tankers in day time , this is very dangerous , at one time no petrol was allowed to be transported during day . There used to special petrol carriers with barriers on all sides so that collision on road does not ignite petrol tank but now ordinary tankers are used under nose of ITP.

we have a PTI MNA in Islamabad whose supporters do not tire of getting to ask him some thing , now here is an issue , why should Islamabad traffic police be allowed this , is it s company for profit , how could it get website word "com" at its end

SP traffic police removed

ISLAMABAD: A superintendent of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) was removed from his post on the charge of provoking the personnel against their senior officers over the distribution of the reward money from the fine imposed on motorists.

Despite repeated attempts, the SP could not be contacted for his comments on the matter.

Under the law, 25 per cent of the fine amount received from the motorists is given to the personnel of the traffic police.

Sources in the police said two months ago the ITP received its share of 25 per cent from the fine imposed on motorists during the fiscal year 2013-14.

This 25 per cent share amounted to Rs30 million. According to the standard operating procedure, 80 per cent of the share - Rs24 million - was distributed among the officials of the ITP while the remaining 25 per cent - Rs7.6 million - given to the Central Police Office (CPO).

However, the CPO returned its share to the ITP asking it to distribute the amount among the officials. But this amount did not reach the officials.

When contacted, acting SSP of the traffic police, Khalid Rasheed, told Dawn that it was not an issue and the amount would be distributed among the officials soon.
