Sindh Government Took the Decision to Complete Uplift Projects by Cutting Expenditure

KARACHI: The Sindh government took a decision to complete maximum schemes this year despite the shortfall in federal transfers to the province by decreasing its non-developmental spending from Rs773.2 billion to Rs700bn and using the rest of the amount of Rs73.2bn for completion of uplift schemes.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken this decision while presiding over a meeting held on this Friday.


He Ordered to Complete All Ongoing City Schemes of Underpasses, Flyovers, and Roads By June
During the meeting, it was informed that the total provincial budget was Rs1, 124bn against estimated total expenditures of Rs1,144bn.

He informed that total 710 development schemes had an allocation of Rs42.7bn against which center had released Rs34.9bn but Rs7.8bn are still required to complete the projects.

The chief minister directed to release the prerequisite amount of Rs7.8bn to complete the ongoing schemes.

The meeting participants were informed that the federal government was actually to release Rs665.1bn, but the provincial government received only Rs390.2bn up to March 2019

In another meeting, Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla briefing the chief minister said that the FBR had deducted Rs7.21bn at source from Account No. 1 of the Sindh government.
