Should we be celebrating Independence Day?

We're sorry, this may seem harsh and we don’t intend to hurt anyone, but it’s a reality we have ignored for far too long.

Should we be celebrating Independence Day? Are we truly free? Does this Nationalistic pride actually manifest into real action or concern for the unstable state our country has become? Independence from what? A physical border doesn’t equal independence. A free people does. Yet, we as a people are completely dependent slaves to the West and the Indian way of life. If we truly love our country as much as these flags and flashes claim, then perhaps we should work on truly freeing ourselves from the chains of colonialism and nationalism once and for all.

Like Analyst Hassan Nisar puts it, on 14th August 1947 we only switched the occupying rulers. No freedom was ever given to people of Pakistan. In past we were slaves to British, and after 1947 we became slaves to rich and elites who use to wash puppies for British.

There are no fundamental rights of Pakistani citizens. Constitution is a piece of garbage which puts ultimate control in the hands of Government. Section 144 can legally allow any democratic Government to turn in to a complete dictatorship. They can take away our fundamental rights as they like. No one will even care.

It is so funny that in same section & same line constitution allows fundamental rights to citizens and in same line it allows Government to restrict them as they find appropriate. Normally Government works for people, but in Pakistan Government is the king and people are slaves to them.

In a free country, Government fears the people but in Pakistan it's the poor citizens who must fear the Tyrants holding public offices in Government.

Then go join Diesel and sob with him.
This 14th August 2018 is the true independence day after 14th August 1947. Like our elders tell us today that they were there to witness the formation of Pakistan, one day we will be telling our grand kids that I was there and witnessed the formation of Naya Pakistan.

Let's not give a blank check here. We only have "hope" on this 14th August. There is no guarantees. Only time will tell if Pakistan changes for better or worst.

There are other countries that have progressed we can study what's they did and learn from it. Our system of Islamic State has not worked anywhere we should discard it and try something else.

If Jewish theological state of Israel can work perfectly with Torah as their constitution, then Islamic system has much better chance to function as it is not only a religion but a complete way of life.

We just never tried it. So saying that it will not work is not appropriate at all.

Another fail from your side, Israel does not have a constitution. Why do keep making stuff up?

This is how Jews fool people like you. You just read a line on wiki about not having a constitution. Please do some more research that why they don't have a constitution and why don't they declare that.

Oh Please, judging by your previous made up facts in this regards its clear you have no idea what you are on about, and I have done plenty of research about this over the years and debated a ton of westerners on the subject.

Just because you don't like someone, or have differences with, does not make it right to make up bullshit about them. You want to talk about the brutal military occupation of Palestine by Israel, you want to talk about the very obvious discrimination in Israel between its jewish and non jewish citizens, you want to talk about the Gaza Blockade, You want to talk about the youm kippur war, you want to talk about AIPAC, you want to talk about the marvi marmara, Rachel corrie, Baruch Goldstein so on and so forth, most welcome. Just don't make up your own facts.

I probably know Israel better than anyone on this forum, their laws are secular, 40% of their population is secular. If their laws were based on Torah, then people would be stoned to death for adultery.

You actually prove my point with Israel, it is the most secular nation in Middle East and thus the most successful one.

The founder of Israel made Israel on secular foundations, yes there are certain jewish laws, but they have a negative effect on Israeli society and not a positive one as you are claiming. For example the marriage business is given to the Rabbi and because of this couples often have to travel to Cyprus to get married. But above all their success is purely attributed to their secular society that encourages critical thinking, innovation and creativity.

Their leaders were smart and saw how religious interference with the state brought Europe to the Dark Ages. They are 10 steps and 200 years ahead of the Arabs, even if all the Arab states get together they still cant defeat that tiny state. Its not about being dumb or smart, its all about adaptation. People who learn and change their ways will survive and prosper, people who are rigid and do not want to change their ways despite failing 100 times will be wiped out.

Involving religion in law making and politics has brought Pakistan to the brink of destruction. Its time to stop this madness.

Without going into detail, I think that you need to revisit and study the foundations that Israel was founded on. They were definitely religiously motivated without a shadow of a doubt. Please come out of this Google mindset and read some genuine literature on the matter. Too much effort? Speak to some Israelis who know their true history well and they will tell you the truth of the matter. Not only that, but even today religion plays a big part in the country's landscape and politics as well as their plans for the future. If you eat up the rhetoric and propaganda that they are dishing out then you will never see things as they really are.

To understand the meaning of independence and what it feels like to have a freedom, you better speak to Muslim residents of central Asian states who lived under Soviet Union or see the present state of Palestinians or Kashmiris. Then you may understand what freedom is really like. I would also suggest you to read through the history of Africa's slaves who went through brutal treatment at the hands of their masters.
In regards to your second point, we first need to establish that economy is a powerful tool that can be used for domination and rule. Like it or not, EACH and EVERY country in the world is more or less economically dependent on USA. So in a way every country is a slave to USA, in your context. However, this can be only changed if economic dominance is gained.
It is worth to mention here that economic dominance is accessible by having a better educational institutes and health facilities only. Trust me there is nothing else except these two things.

I did 3 courses in 19th century Europe and dated an israel girl whi is die hard zionist for 3 years. Zionism is a secular ideology in every history book I read. Majority of the European Jews who live in Israel are secular and secular Jews make a majority in Israel.

Religion may play a part in their society but their laws are based on secularism and not on holy books.
