SHC declares Musharraf as fugitive
Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued orders to declare former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf as fugitive.
A division bench of the court, headed by SHC Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, issued the order during the hearing of the petition filed by Maulvi Iqbal Haider of the Awami Himayat Tehrik seeking action against Gen (retd) Musharraf and his aides, including advocate Sharifuddin Pirzada and former attorney general Malik Abdul Qayyum, for ‘disfiguring’ the Constitution and committing high treason.
The SHC had issued notices to Musharraf to appear before the court several times, however, he did not follow the orders.
The court at this took action and ordered to publish advertisements in British and national newspapers directing Musharraf to appear before the court.
It is pertinent to mention that the decision of the Sindh High Court is invalid outside Pakistan.
