Sheikh Rasheed's Speech
Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed along with Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will address a public rally tonight at Liaquat Bagh in connection with Independence Day celebrations.
The public rally, which will take place tonight at 10PM local time, is expected to be attended by thousands.
PTI spokesperson Shafqat Mehmood dispelled impression that his party was poised to forge an electoral alliance with Sheikh Rasheed.
Mehmood, however, confirmed that Khan would address the rally as a guest speaker.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Rasheed insisted that alliance between PTI and AML in the upcoming elections was a possibility.
Law enforcement agencies say they have made foolproof security arrangements to fortify the Liaquat Bagh public rally, yet the chances of any untoward incident cannot be completely ruled out.
“To minimize security risks, the political parties’ supporters and general public have been advised reach in shape of little groups comprising 8 to 10 persons,” a police official said.
