ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Friday adopted a resolution affirming the supremacy of the Constitution and the Parliament.
The resolution also said that the demand for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation and dissolution of the Parliament was unconstitutional.
The resolution was tabled by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani.
In yesterday’s session of the National Assembly a resolution had been unanimously approved demanding supremacy of the constitution and law.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, before the start of the meeting media had reported that Nawaz Sharif was expected to deliver a speech and take the NA into confidence in his address about his government’s future plan of action regarding demands put forward by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leadership.
