JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia launched a nationwide fundraising campaign on Monday for Pakistan's flood victims, on the instructions of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif said.
King Abdullah inaugurated the campaign by giving SR20 million while Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, donated SR10 million and Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif SR5 million to the fund.
"We have instructed all regional governors to set up subsidiary committees to collect donations and encourage businessmen and other citizens to participate actively in the campaign, which is named after King Abdullah," Prince Naif told the Saudi Press Agency.
He said potential donors could deposit their money in account No. SA8710000020162400000107 at National Commercial Bank or transfer their money using NCB's telebanking service or ATMs or Al-Ahli online service.

In response to the king's call, Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan identified locations in the region to collect donations. They include the headquarters of the King Abdul Aziz Charitable Society and Prince Fahd bin Sultan Social Program. The governor also set up a committee to organize the fundraising.

Saudi Arabia has already sent 16 planeloads of relief supplies to Pakistan after the country was hit by the worst floods in its history. On Sunday, the 15th and 16th cargo flights arrived in Pakistani airports with Saudi supplies.

Saudi Finance Ministry officials Abdullah Al-Muhaisen, Abdul Aziz Al-Fayad and Abdullah Al-Dossary handed over the relief supplies to Pakistani authorities. The Saudi Embassy in Islamabad is supervising the distribution of Saudi aid among the victims.

The Kingdom has pledged $100 million relief for Pakistan. "We are coordinating with UN agencies to distribute the humanitarian and emergency relief supplies," an official statement said.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who surveyed the devastation caused by the torrential floods on Sunday, said he had never seen anything like it in his life. He urged foreign donors to speed up assistance to the 20 million people affected.

The floods that began more than two weeks ago in Pakistan's mountainous northwest have now affected about a quarter of the country, especially its agricultural heartland. While the death toll of 1,500 is relatively small, the scale of the flooding and number of people whose lives have been disrupted is staggering.

The United Nations has appealed for an initial $460 million to provide relief, but only 20 percent has been given. Once the floods recede, billions more will be needed for reconstruction and getting people back to work.

All those who were bad mouthing Saudi should shut up now

Bad mouthing or talking truth, Saudis have trillions of dollars of which they spend millions on visiting Europe and casinos. You need to read the attachments.

We are paying the price for their support of Terrorism, read the following.

http://www.worldpress.org/europe/0102lemonde_saudi.htm

There is much more, but this is for u to read for starters. they can easily donate billions without having to ask for raising money, they must be kidding.

Look at the procession of cars they travel and the speed the drive makes a mockery of Traffic and of truth.

a bullet proof cars given as a gift to Nawaz Sharif, is this Islam, Gifting bullet proof cars to Islamic leaders.

A customizedhttp://www.waleg.com/cars/archives/015211.html land rover for the king.

Saudis should be teaching their people how to drive.

Look at the lavish dinners they throw at dignitaries from U.S. while their fellow Muslims are dieing like animals of hunger in Somalia, in Bangladesh and in Pakistan.

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE61F08820100216

So sir we must come together as Muslims and act in that manners and go by the rules and examples set by Khulfa-E-Rashedeens like Umer Ibn-E- Khatab R.A.T.U. and than peace and respect will come as the masses will see the Leaders as the beneficiaries and not the aliens that they see.

the money is enough that they have sitting in foreign banks, read this report as per it Saudis have 1.4 trillion sitting in their accounts, there is need to collect funds for such catastrophe,

http://www.menafn.com/qn_news_story_s.asp?StoryId=1093305342&src=MOEN

so use the money at hand as the need is now and very urgent and there is no time to waste to collect fund.

I am being a Muslim when I say this. I am being honest and want honesty to prevail as dictated by our beautiful Deen. some of the above things may be predated but than Somalians have been suffering for a Millennium and they needed help 20 years ago, who should help them with all respect, i think Saudis should as they have the Money and have the authority and the respect from Umma.

Gentle men, can we not talk truth, can we not be concerned about Umma, if we should be than we should all be talking to our Leaders and asking them to do the right things, and those are to industrialize Muslims countries and the best thing would be to industrialize Pakistan as it is way ahead in developing sophisticated things such as jet fighters, tanks and not to mention Atomic power.

Investing in constructing building with out industrial base is like making a home without a kitchen. So we must request Saudis to invest in Pakistan in its industry, supervise investments closely. also start a honest dialogue with our leaders about their dishonesty and the money they borrowed as it is a sin to not to return money borrowed.

We need someone to bring things back to Islam and who would be better suited than Saudis to do this, they are the rulers of our Holy places so all Muslims will respect them, they are blessed with money and than they have the respect from all Muslims countries therefore it is natural that they must get involved in all Muslims countries and help them,

There is no dearth of intelligentsia in Muslim Umma, all they have to do is look and they will find them, to start with making one Army for the whole Umma, say from Somalia to Turkey and from Morocco to Pakistan. They should be very serious in starting honest dailogue with Shia's in Islam, we have waited to long to come together, but any time is a good time to start dailogue with each other.

Peace is what Islam means and we must show the world that is what we are always working on and that we do not condone violence, we only believe in peace and we like to achieve it through dailogues/ discussions. this is how u win hearts and minds of Umma. thank you very much.

What do say my friends and countrymen. I hope u will say yes.
