Saudi airline cancels contract over aircraft landing in Israel

Saudi Arabia's national airline has cancelled its contract with a Portuguese firm after the latter flew an empty plane bearing the Saudi logo to Ben-Gurion Airport in Israel, Anadolu reported on Friday.

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) issued a statement stressing that the plane in question did not belong to its fleet, but is owned by the Portuguese Hi Fly company, which was contracted by SAA to provide aircraft and crews for commercial operations if and when needed. The statement was released after Israeli media reported that a Saudi passenger plane had landed at Ben-Gurion on Tuesday night for technical maintenance. A photo of the plane carrying the SAA logo at the Israeli airport created a major stir on social media.

The Saudi airline said that the plane was out of service when Hi Fly took it for repair in Brussels before the photo in question emerged. It added that it had decided to cancel the contract with the company after the latter violated the terms of the contract, which stated that SAA must approve in advance the airports where the planes carrying its logo are to land.

Saudi Arabia does not recognise Israel and has no diplomatic relations with the self-proclaimed Jewish state.

Time for damage control....its the age of social media. This pic and story will grow very long legs and go a long way.

Like Israel in Gaza, Saudi Arabia pretended that warning civilians to flee an area that they intend to bomb absolves them from their obligation under international humanitarian law to avoid civilian casualties. Like Israel, their claim was rejected by the United Nations:

That rationalization for Friday and Saturday airstrikes was rejected by Johannes Van Der Klaauw, the U.N. humanitarian coordinator for Yemen.
"The indiscriminate bombing of populated areas, with or without prior warning, is in contravention of international humanitarian law," Van Der Klaauw said in a statement.
The U.N. official said he was especially concerned about the airstrikes on Saada, "where scores of civilians were reportedly killed and thousands were forced to flee their homes after the coalition declared the entire governorate a military target."

There was no secret that opec countries have ties with Israel but they never mentioned about it so my question is why Pakistan is not having relations with Israel when Pakistan dont have its borders with Israel and no pending issues just the palestinian but pakistan is not a arabian country or part of it so why to hold that long grudge for nothing .

If Pakistan have good relations with Israel , it will be the beneficiary otherwise Pakistan suffers in many other ways--not to mention .My very sincere suggestion with govt of Pakistan is not to avoid the country whose people have the hold of almost everything in the world and we cannot deny these facts .I may be called an agent of zionist or called something else but its in the interest of Pakistan to recognize Israel and have relations with it .The right wing mullahs if they make any hue and cry , no one listen to them and they have no business with it . Pakistan will be much better of with this suggestion I bet . Lets see who cares about it , someone should pay attention to it . India is taking all the advantage on the expense of Pakistan .
