Rueit e Hilal drama again tonight

Like every year, there will be a gathering of religious men this evening from every sect who will decide whether Eid ul Fitr moon is sighted or not. With so much advancement in science is there any good reason for this drama?. The position of the moon is determined precisely by scientists and we should believe them. Regarding mullahs, they declared loudspeaker, radio, camera, television etc haram when these were invented but now cannot live without them. Let the same be for rueit hilal also -- Unless the govt wants to appease mullahs by letting them have picnic on a high building with telescopes which are also a scientific invention and not their naked eye.
