The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Friday summoned Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on February 5, and sought explanation from him for violating the oath he took while seeking asylum, Express News reported.
RCMP said that Qadri violated the oath stating that he was not allowed to enter the country he had sought asylum from.
According to Express News correspondent Shakeel Anjum, Abdul Shakoor Qadri, otherwise known as Tahir Qadri, had sought asylum from Canada in 2008, fearing threats to his life after he met with the Danish cartoonist responsible for making blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Qadri, through his lawyer Mendel Green, had requested that he was receiving death threats from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba.
On October 17, 2009, his asylum application was accepted, while he was issued the Canadian passport about six months back.
The MQI chief has also been receiving welfare funds from the Canadian government, citing health issues.
Qadri, who led a 5-day long march in Islamabad which concluded Thursday evening, is currently present in Pakistan.
He is scheduled to fly back to Canada on January 27 along with his family.

He never told anyone he was an asylum seeker in Canada. Everyone assumed he got his Canadian Nationality through other means but now much makes sense

I do doubt the Oath bit, the journo is confused. NO Oath is taken to prove one's case for asylum, though evidence may be given on Oath in Court if he went that far but that would amount ot Perjury the Oath would have been for the Canadian Nationaltiy, Not the Asylum or even Passport, which is a right once a citizen

However part of his case and the grounds on which he got asylum was clearly his "well founded" fear of the TTP and the threats and his case would be that he could not return to Pakistan because of fear to his life. BUT then as soon as he gets a Canadian Pasport he thinks it safe to return. The obvious thing for the Mounties then is to question the whole process which led to his being granted Canadian Nationality

He may be returning to Pakistan sooner than we think lol

PS Funny he got Asylum in Canada because of fear for his life as did Altaf in the UK

When this was exposed that he is going to go back to Canada on 27th January and now Minhaj ul Quran said the emirates booking was just for Security reasons with some other fligh bookings then the question rise that if that long march was going to be Danda March was he going to run back to canada calling it security threat even after he said he would be the first to get hit!!!!!!

Now why is the Canadian Gov involved to call him back to canada this way did they forgot there laws and oath when there Ambassador met Rehman Malik for dr tahirs security on this long march.... I think they are just planning to take him back to canada after his flop show and doing it this way so no one can point finger at there agent being fed by them.

Looks like this is a fake news. As Canadian citizen I know after having asylem, one has to be in Canada at least three years and then only after that he/she will be awarded passport.
In TUQ case, as per this news, "On October 17, 2009, his asylum application was accepted, while he was issued the Canadian passport about six months back."
So, his three years of stay in Canada was completed on October 17, 2012 but he was issued the Canadian passport about six months back from now. It means some time in June or July 2012 he got the passport. The period from October 2009 to July 2012 is less then three years. How come?
