If referendum can be held in UK to decide independence of Scotland, why can't one be held in Pakistan to change the constitution to a more practicable one, la Dr Qadri's suggestions.
Referendum can be held for a problem with simple response such as Yes No etc. Constitution is not a simple problem. Firstly it took us 26 years to draft our constitution. Secondly there will be serious concerns of disputed topics such as religion (muslim - non muslim, shia - sunni ... ), secularism(liberalism), power sharing etc.
Best option is to amend the law in a legal way, by truly elected parliament who can further enhance the law and made the judicial system simple and efficient, and can make other improvements.
In general there is no problem with law, but its implementation. The law enforcement is the biggest problem that we have to tackle.
Very nice reply. So this referendum in UK was for a very simple problem? Independence of Scotland is a simple issue :). It took you 100 years to get independence. while in England if referendum was Yes Scotland will become a country. Same can be done in Kashmir? But both Pakistan and India are ghulams first they were ghulams of Kings like akbar and rest of the family Thn Britishers and now Sharif and Bhutto family. Ignorance is blessing my friend :)
In referrendum you can only ask question not change the constitution. Question should be Padri is topi drama or not? I bet 99% will declare padri a big topi.
