Rauf Klasra shared an official letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to all its overseas branches. The letter carries the instructions given to all the oversees branches on how to defend Panama Leaks Case by the Government Officials abroad, in front of the International media.
Although, this letter shows the mental condition of the ruling party (PMLN), which looks quite obtrusive while it comes to the utilization of the Government resources in defending the family of the Prime Minister, on private matters.
The boggling effect can be seen in this letter where Klasra has highlighted point No 8. This point appears to be a sort of emotional blackmail for the people of the west, where it glorifies the achievement of Pakistan in curbing terrorism. However, the text of the letter appears to give all the credit of the Law Enforcement agencies and the resolve of the Pakistani people in fighting the war against terrorism to PMLN alone. There is no mention of the All Parties Conference and the input given by all quadrants in the form of the National Action Plan. There is virtually no credence to anyone, except Nawaz Sharif himself.
This is one bargaining point by the ruling party to get a 'buy in' and gather support from the international community in all the present scenario of post Panama Case Verdict issued by the honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Although, as pointed out by Klasra, it is seemingly quite hilarious of the ruling party to portray themselves clean and clear in Panama Case, which is already something which has stirred the whole world. People in the west know quite very well that what do these leaks stand for and what do they imply. The recent Pulitzer prize, won by ICIJ on these leaks, stamps a virtue of high esteem on this piece of investigative journalism. Therefore, it appears to be a futile effort by the ruling party to pose in front of the western public that Panama Papers are a conspiracy against them, which virtually has no intrinsic value.
In the end, Klasra sums it up in his own peculiar style, where he has exposed the usage of State resources for personal issues and even more intriguing is the style in which they are utilized. It is evident that this sort of overly defensive stance will do more harm than good to not only the ruling party, but to the country as a whole as well.
