[h=2]Pakistan Railway Derailed By Incompetent Bilour[/h]Aug 7th, 2011
Awami National Party has never got a track record in achieving any success in managing any ministry or portfolio and here just to keep his government, Asif Zardari has given a whole province and some important ministries to this incompetent and ethnic party, which is not even loyal to the country. Pakistan Railway is dead, yes literally dead. Most of the trains have either stopped or on the verge of stoppage. There is money to buy the fuel or for the maintenance of the locomotives and other resources. There are no funds to pay the salaries and pensions but the luxuries of Ghulam Ahmad Bilour the incompetent and corrupt minister of railways are intact and increasing.
Bilour has recruited thousands of people from his own constituency. These people from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa don’t know a thing about railways or its technicalities and most of them are illiterate. These have sold out railways and have eaten up everything. Same is the case with other ministries.
Railways Acting General Manager, Anjum Pervaiz has said that 40 or 50 trains of the branch lines’ closure was under consideration for overcoming the railway crisis and ensuring on time arrivals and departures of trains. He has admitted that the minister of railways have got no interest in the matters whatsoever.
It is high time that steps should be taken on war footings to improve the railway. First, fire the Bilour and hand him over to NAB for investigations. Fire all those people from Bilour’s constituency. Rightsize the railway immediately. Emergency should be declared in railways and government should render bailout package for the railways which would facilitate repairs/renovation of 100 old engines, 500 passenger coaches, 650 goods wagons and 50 power vans. Also the margin for the purchase of oil from PSO on credit should be enhanced from Rs2 billion to 3 billion and should be reevaluated on monthly basis.
Right now, Pakistan Railways is going through a tough time as the delay in trains services has reached its worst. Eighteen trains traveling to Narowal, Faisalabad, Multan and some other cities have been closed due to scarcity of engines. Trains traveling from Lahore to Narowal and Multan, and those traveling on branch lines including Faisalabad were stopped without any prior notice and nobody knows when they would restart.
Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta Express, Jafar, Quetta, Karakaram Express, Khyber Mail, Hazara Express, Rohi Express, Bolan Mail all are late for an indefinite period.
