ISLAMABAD- Qamar Zaman Kaira — who all of a sudden has become popular among the ranks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after Imran Khan giving ‘clean chit’ to Kaira termed him a respectable and clean politician in PPP — has categorically said that he would not leave Pakistan Peoples Party till his last day in politics.
PTI Chief Imran Khan on Thursday last during his address at Constitution Avenue rejected the name of opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah as negotiator and expressed his severe reservations over the PPP leader. Imran said Kaira was a credible and clean man and his name should be in government negotiations team instead of Khurshid Shah.
A close aide of Kaira informed this scribe that Kaira was in Norway on the invitation of his party workers in connection with celebrations of Independence Day and party meeting of Norway PPP chapter when Imran used harsh language against Shah. He said Kaira minded Imran Khan’s language against Shah and showed his serious concern over it and recorded his protest to a PTI leader on telephone.
After receiving Kaira’s concerns Imran made a telephone call to Kaira in Norway and discussed the current political situation with him. Imran made it realised to Kiara that it was not the time to stay out of the country and requested him to come back to Pakistan and give his input to PTI for sorting out the recent political situation, the source added.
The sources said that after getting Imran Khan’s telephone call Kaira cut short his Norway visit and engagements, arrived back and resumed his political activities. The source mentioned that rumours related to Kaira of joining PTI arouse from Lala Mosa when Chairman Pakistan Awami Muslim League Shiekh Rashid came to Kaira’s home at tea in Lala Mosa during Imran Khan’s Azadi March from Lahore to Islamabad. He said Rashid telephoned Kaira that he wanted to come to his home for fresh tea while Kaira offered warm welcome to Rashid and after spending few hours Rashid left Kaira’s residency for joining Azadi March.
Talking to The Nation Kaira confirmed that Imran made a telephone call to him and discussed the political situation and convinced him to come back and play his role for making successful negotiations between PTI and the government. Kaira said he was thankful to Imran who gave him honour in his sit-in and discussed his name as a clean politician. Kaira said he also heard rumours that he was going to join PTI. But he strongly rejected these kinds of gossips.
Kaira cleared that how can he leave the PPP even when his family members sacrificed their lives for PPP and he cannot even think of joining any other political party. “It would be last day of my politics if I left leaves PPP,” Kaira added.
Well-placed sources in PPP informed this correspondent that after listing to the rumours about Kaira, PPP leader Faryal Talpur called him and asked him that she had heard that he was joining PTI. Kaira replied that he could not even think to stay in politics without PPP, the sources added.
