Punjab abolishes DCO's post & restores Deputy Commissioners (DC) with more powers.

I need to understand what could be the hidden / actual agenda of Punjab government behind this? Would this aid in any kind of election rigging or money or land embezzlement in future? Or to save criminal elements or to target the opponents of Shahbaz sharif etc by DC's holding court sessions and making politically motivated cases against business & poltiical opponents?

Or is this a good step taken by Shahbaz Sharif? Doesn't look good / purposeful to me but People with actual insight on this matter please share their views.

Please refrain from useless gibberish posts with no opinion whatsoever. Apologies to those fellow users in advance.

Appears to have brought a fox to guard the henhouse, but admittedly dunno the intricacies of this apparent fraud...

More concentration of power in CM house???

the commissioner is a colonial era bureaucrat who will interfere in the local government matters of elected officials. so any mayor of punjab or any chairman of district council will have to do ji hazur to the commissioner and will have zero power and zero space to do anything of his own

in sindh we already have commissioners who are more powerful than the mayors. for example commissioner may remove any officer and make changes as ordered by his master zardari, while the mayor doesn't even have the power to remove any corrupt officer and appoint new one from his own organisation

so basically it to make already handicapped local government more handicapped and make punjabi CM more powerful

regards
