PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Javed Hashmi said on Thursday his party would win the next elections even if Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif banded together against it and even if they call the US to their support.
Addressing Insaf Student Federation’s launching of volunteer campaign for membership drive, he said PTI chief Imran Khan had become the last hope for the people of Pakistan who would vote his party to power.
“Let me challenge Zardari and Nawaz that Pakistani people will bring PTI to power even if they join hands and even if they call the US for their support,” he told the students amid claps.
Javed Hashmi said he had no differences with PML-N but joined PTI to put his weight behind Imran Khan who had been scathingly criticised when politicians started joining Tehreek-e-Insaf. He said he liked Imran Khan as a leader even when he had not joined PTI and wanted him to succeed.
The PTI leader told the audience that the proof of his belief that Imran had been a sincere leader was his participation in PTI’s sit-in against drone attacks in Peshawar.“The political parties and the media unleashed an onslaught on Imran Khan by saying that PML-Q politicians were joining it at ISI’s behest, and I was worried that this onslaught might discourage him. That was the moment I decided to join PTI,” he added. All political parties, he said, were afraid of PTI because important personalities in the country had been joining it.
He said he could have struck a deal like Nawaz Sharif to go abroad when he was imprisoned by the Pervez Musharraf’s regime, but it was not politics of his style.Praising Imran Khan as a party leader, he said people used to say that he (Imran) was a dictator in nature, but it was wrong. He said he had now more respect for Imran due to his attitude after having close association with him after joining the PTI.
