Pakistans prominent tradesman and President Zardaris close friend Riaz Lalji has been abducted from Karachi airport today. The case of his abduction has been registered in airport police station.
Riaz Lalji reached Karachi from Dubai at 5 am today, where some unidentified people abducted him from the airport. According to CCPO Karachi Waseem Ahmad, the car of Riaz Lalji has been recovered from the vicinity of airport. Riaz Lalji is the owner of Al-Abbas Steel Mills and a very close friend of President Asif Ali Zardari. He was also involved in some cases of NAB and FIA. According to sources, driver and guards of Riaz Lalji are also missing; where as police is claiming this incident as kidnapping.

The event created a stir among the law enforcing agencies while high ranking police officials have a held a meeting to trace the whereabouts of the missing businessman.

According to sources, Laljee is said to be involved in the illegal procurement and sale of rice, and was a co-accused in the Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan case. According to a report issued on the steel mills by the FIA, Laljee is also said to be involved in the illegal procurement of coal with an Australian firm.

It may be mentioned here that President Zardari is scheduled to return home from Dubai tonight.

Bid foiled to kidnap Rehman Malik’s brother

ISLAMABAD: A bid to kidnap the brother of Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday night was foiled in Islamabad.

Police sources told DawnNews that the kidnappers in a Land Cruiser followed Malik's brother when he came out of the Ministers Enclave.

The kidnappers managed to flee when they found police on the Margalla road.

After the incident, police enhanced checking on all the exit points of the city and registered a case against three unknown suspects in Secretariat police station under section 345 and 511.
