President Biden must take PM Imran Khan's advice and negotiate a lasting peace settlement with the Taliban instead of prolonging military confrontation and blood-shedding in the country after the American withdrawal. It not in the interest of the Americans to create another Iraq in the total political and economic mess and ruin with a hopeless future for its people. I am certain that President Biden is far more intelligent and wise than the pea-brain ex-President GW Bush and would not like to repeat the same mistake committed by GW Bush when he illegally invaded Iraq and faced a humiliating defeat in the end.
Pakistan has already played a very conciliatory and pivotal role in bringing the two opposing parties to a negotiating table and the credit must go to our great visionary leader, PM Imran Khan who for years has said that the only way to end the blood-shedding, bloodletting, and horrendous death and destruction in Afghanistan is long-lasting peace settlement based on honest and sincere intentions from both sides under the auspices of the United Nations.
It would be a great gesture of wisdom and vision by President Biden to announce his intention to visit Pakistan soon and appearing more conciliatory, and advocating peace in the region. The Soviets failed to conquer Afghanistan and we saw the eventual collapse and the total disintegration of the Soviet Union.
The Americans must not ignore the historical fact that Afghans are impregnable.
