LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Partys General Secretary Jahangir Badr has proposed a plan to introduce a common currency between Pakistan and India in order to improve trade between the two neighboring countries.
Badr, who was addressing a Pakistan-India Media Conference at the Lahore Press Club on Friday, stated that there were almost 1209 items on the negative list regime for trade with India which would be withdrawn in December and that the time had come for both the countries to consider a common currency in order to enhance trade, quoted the Hindustan Times.
Badr further stated that the proposed common currency would also help in resisting the overbearing pressure from the US dollar, British pound and Euro and would increase bilateral trade.
Badr praised his partys initiatives towards improving ties between the two countries and further added that improved trade relations would prove economically beneficial for both the countries.
