Power Plant Audit...........

Since long waiting for the audit of power sector.

Government shall carry out a micro forensic audit of all power plants in the country. It is not possible that electricity is cheaper in the neighboring countries and it is very very expensive in Pakistan.

We can not afford to give subsidy to the industries due to high power cost. Its loss after the loss. First we lose in the circular debt due to theft then again we lose to pay these IPPs. Government must find a way to reduce the power cost to its actual and reasonable value.

It does not mean we shall do injustice to the IPPs. IPPs must get their justified and reasonable profit.

If Government is succeeded in negotiating a successful deal with these IPPs, it will be a major achievement and i think Government has served more than what it promised.

We shall not care about the past and shall only decide for the future.

Our problem is we discuss more about the past and in this we forget about the future.

Power sector contracts shall be renewed and a committtee shall be formed to discuss new contracts with these IPPs. All these IPPs have legal protection, but over pricing can not be justified through legal protection. Over pricing is corruption or the blood money. Our poor and middle class can not afford to pay this blood money.

Now since inquiry commission report is published so Government must use it to give a new formula for power rates.

The Nooras and the PPP gave legal protection to the IPPs. The simpler method is to hit them with high taxes. That way you nullify their criminality. Remember there is more than one way to skin a cat.

IPPs licenses were issued during the first time of corrupt benazir and her world famous thug chor asif dari, and this chor asif extracted huge rishwat from them and i suspect a long time commission which is still being paid to him outside pakistan. IK government should re-examine these contracts and find out how much asif dari has looted the amount and try to revise the contracts with them.
