Frankly, I am so totally against the requirement of a Bachelor degree to be an MNA. This shuts out good majority of Pakistanis where illiteracy is enormously high. Whether the MNA's have degrees or not, they will be useless anyway, so why not give everybody a chance, from say, khakrob in rural Sindh, to a PhD in Lahore, equal right to have some say in the nation's affair if elected.
One of the constitutional amendments to be implemented by my party Patriots, will be that every male member (except for non-Muslims) , national or provincial, must be able to:
1. Lead the jehri salat
2. Must be fluent in reading quran. These will be accepted at the minimum with high fluency:
fateha, ayatal-kursi, kaferoon, akhlas, falaq, naas, first roku from yasin, first roku from baqarah.
3. Assemblies must be shut down at prayer times to perform prayers.
4. each male members must take turns in being Imam.
5. Each day the assembly shall begin with recitation of at least one roku from anywhere in Quran and dua. Same shall apply at the closing time. Applies to fed and prov assemblies, no exceptions.
6. If members are unable to do any of the above, they will be given 1 month to memorize the aforementioned ayahs, failing which, their salary will be cut by 25% and another month given, failing which again, 50% cut and eventually their membership will be terminated and new person will be elected.
If you claim to be a Muslim, prove to be a Muslim :)
