Islamabad: Pakistans Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Friday said that an appeal against the Supreme Courts verdict in the prime minister contempt case has been prepared, but no final decision has been taken yet regarding its filing in the apex court.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Kaira said that the appeal consists of 147 objections, and added that there is a difference in opinion among party members on whether it should be filed or not.The final decision will be taken by tomorrow (Saturday), the minister said.Saturday is the last day for Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to file an appeal against the Supreme Court verdict. The apex court had found Gilani in contempt of court on April 26, 2012 for refusing to write a letter to Swiss authorities in order to reopen corruption cases against the president. On Thursday, two days before the possible expiry of a 30-day deadline to decide on the fate of the prime minister, the National Assembly speaker dismissed bids to disqualify Gilani.
