Peshawar's Popalzai claims moon sighting, announces Eid Friday

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan on Thursday claimed to have sighted the Shawal moon and announced Eid in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be celebrated on Friday.


According to details, Shahabuddin headed the meeting of an informal session of moon sighting where several clerics participated.


Talking to the media after the session, Shahabuddin claimed that he received reports of several moon sightings from Peshawar, Khyber Agency, Kirk, Hangu, Sara-e- Norang, Laki Marwat, Bannu and Sawabi.


Shahabuddin said that the day is not far when the whole nation will observe fast and celebrate Eid on same day.


He demanded the government to sack the central moon sighting committee.

Got report from local friends. Eid announced in Bannu, Swabi areas.

Local Ruit Committee got more than 10 witnesses.

Its well befor Popalzai announcement.

Now Poplazai will come on TV and announced eid and people will start cursing him that Eid in KPK is because of him

Its neither from popalzai nor from KPK Govt.. Its local committees of these district. They don't follow Popalzai or Govt.

اگر پورے ملک میں عید کا چاند ایک ساتھ نظر آئے تو پھر مولبی پوپلزئی کا تھوبڑا ٹی وی پر کیسے آئے گا، اس لئے کے پی کے میں ایک دن چاند کو آگے پیچھے کرنا ضروری ہے۔

The announcement not from Popalzai, I dont know why you are cursing Popalzai for Eid in Bannu and Sawabi?

Bro Islamiclly u can't do that .. if u have a state u have to follow that state and its rules (even if state is non-muslim) if someone is disobeying that basic Islamic principle and making divide in ppl then i think it can come in the area of FITNA which is most condemn able thing in Islam.

If a state made a committee right or wrong ... if u don't follow it and made ur own then ( it is clear mutiny)

What about Dawoodi Buhra who always celebrate Eid according to their own calendar, no one pointed out why the are doing Eid one day before. What about prayer timings every city area sect maslik have its own timing.

Personally I prefer to use Moon position calculated scientifically and Govt announces dates of Eid Ramadan and Eid Holidays 1 year in advance.

And what about Intrested Alcohol and other un islamic things allowed in Pakistan then why just insist on this small thing?

I dont agree with it. Since I was kid we used to follow local Ruit committee and never heard of Name Popalzai.

اب چونکے خیبر پختونخواہ والو نے روزہ سعودی کے ساتھ رکھا ہے ، ان کی اب عید بنتی ہے
