Pemra Issues Notices to 31 Channels for Airing False News of Bomb Blast

PEMRA has issued show cause notices to 31 news channels for airing false news of bomb blast in Lahore and terrorizing the public.


Following the blast in Lahore which took lives of 8 innocent people, TV channels reported it as a bomb blast in Lahore.


TV channels claimed that the blast occurred outside foreign food chain restaurant.


Police official denied the news of bomb blast. Law minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah also denied the false news.


PEMRA has asked 31 TV channels to show the intentions behind this news. PEMRA has given 1 week time to channels to present their explanation for airing false news without any confirmation.


We have seen in the past as well that TV channels start copying the news without any confirmation which. Our media industry needs to takes these news seriously and must confirm before airing these kinds of news as it create a sense of panic among the public
