Six newly-elected independent MNAs from Fata met PML-N President Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Monday and announced joining the party.
The MNAs expressed their complete faith in the policies of the PML-N. They assured their complete support to Nawaz Sharif in his forming the government and implementing its policies.
The MNAs from Fata who met Nawaz were Shadi Gul, Bislamullah, Sajid Turi, Gul Jamal, Bilal Rehman and Nazir Khan.
Nawaz informed them that the people of Fata were playing a significant role in the development of Pakistan and the PML-N government would focus on the development and progress of the area. He claimed that it would be the top priority of the PML-N government to restore the destroyed economy of Pakistan and the first 100 days of their government would start reflecting change in the country.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader from KP Saleem Saifullah Khan also held meeting with Nawaz Sharif.
praise for Nawaz: Shahbaz Sharif was all praise for PML-N president Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, terming his address to the newly elected assembly embers sagacious, which had come from a patriotic politician.
He said that Nawaz Sharif had not only given a ray of hope to the nation but also stated the real facts and the challenges facing the country. He said that Nawaz Sharif had stressed the need for joint efforts for national reconstruction and it was incumbent upon all politicians to respond positively.
He was talking to media after the first meeting of PML-N elected assembly members.
Replying to a question, regarding protest against election results, Shahbaz Sharif said that victory and defeat both demand large heartedness. He said that, after winning the elections, PML-N leadership despite having majority in the National Assembly, had announced taking along all political parties for the development and prosperity of the country. He said that those who faced defeat in the elections should also display large heartedness.
Shahbaz Sharif said that we should admit this fact that the vote of a rich man was not more important than that of a poor man. He said that the importance of the vote of a common man facing load shedding was equal to the vote of a rich man living in an air-conditioned bungalow of modern locality of big cities.
Earlier, addressing the newly elected MNAs and PML-N workers at Raiwind, Shahbaz Sharif said that the victory of PML-N in the recent elections had once again revived the confidence of the people in the future of Pakistan. He said that these results had given hope of a bright future for the country. He said that it was encouraging that the command of the winning party was in the hands of such a leader who had the courage and ability to bring the country out of crises.
He said that he had visited every nook and corner of Pakistan these years and found that everyone loved Nawaz Sharif. He said that he had also met people who did not cast vote in favour of Muslim League-N but admitted that only Nawaz Sharif and his party could steer the country out of the existing problems.
election expenses: On the second last day of submission of election expenses details, five candidates submitted their returns on Monday, including Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz.
Former Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif submitted expenses of Rs.1,791,000 while Hamza Shahbaz Sharif Rs.22,26,617 before their relevant Returning Officers (ROs). The amount was spent by them during their election campaign. Former CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif spent Rs.8,13,000 in NA 129, Rs.4,65,000 in PP 159 and Rs.5,13,000 in PP 161. On the other hand Hamza Shahbaz Sharif spent Rs.13,94469 in NA 119, Rs.8,32148 in PP142 on banners, flaxes, tent, catering, processions, fuel on vehicles used in election campaign.
Former Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood spent Rs.8,33,000 in PP149, Malik Riaz Rs.14,57500 in NA 118 while Mehar Ishtiaq spent Rs.7,80,000 in NA 121 during election campaign.
May 21 (today) is the last date for submitting the expenses of the winning candidates before their relevant ROs.
