Some reporters who report on Pakistan aren't even Pakistanis. Some that have a Pakistani background are either affiliated with PML-N/PPP or simply report whatever they are told to parrot. Some are anti-state or have ethnic/religious grievances. It is a very mixed bag. Influential Western media houses are never going to portray Pakistan in a favorable light.

You also have to consider that a lot of Indians have accomplished influential positions at large Western corporations and media houses. The nationalistic Indian is going to influence Pakistan related narrative wherever possible.

Apart from these factors there is generally speaking plain prejudice against Pakistan in Western media. Pakistan was vilified long before it even became a nuclear power. A lot of hatred and bias stems due to political and religious reasons. We mustn't forget that Pakistan was marked the day it became a nuclear power. A lot of Western nations just cannot fathom an Islamic nuclear Pakistan which can defend itself. They don't have much of an issue with India being a nuclear power. The Brits carved Pakistan as a subservient colonial vassal state. Instead Pakistan has chosen a very different path since its independence. Pakistan is geographically an important country. Many Western nations have to play nicely with Pakistan because the Afghan conundrum needs a settlement. You can rest assured that the West would have walked over Pakistan like they did in Iraq had it not been for our nuclear capability.

Many of us who are born and bred in a Western country understand the Western psyche related to Pakistan. It is complex and mostly riddled with misconceptions. There are issues of necessary PPE for NHS staff in UK. No doubt about that however the scale of this is not as bad as it is in Pakistan. Where doctors and nurses have to buy from there pocket money all the PPE. There is absolutely very lack of support from govt to provide the PPE.
On the other hand the media in Pakistan was quite mostly ( few channels reported the incident of quettas doctors). Our local media in pakistan is influenced to portray a certain picture and who ever cross that line is abolished or stick hard and this is reality not my assumption.

This is my humble advice to the people and politicians of Pakistan. Put the interest of your nation at the very top.

The Western world has invested a lot of resources to curb Pakistan. We cannot fathom how deep this conspiracy goes. They tried it through Afghanistan for almost two decades. They failed collectively. They used every possible means to destabilise Pakistan. They got India into the act and gathered US/NATO forces to destroy Pakistan. Pakistan was too resilient. The Pak armed forces held their nerve and pushed their proxy forces back.

When you study Western think tanks there is one particular aspect that their analysts are very focused on. They are now attacking Pakistan through the media and their local proxy actors. They are investing heavily in ethnic and religious faultlines. PTM, tensions between various provinces, media sell-outs and judiciary undermining the state is all becoming a norm. These actors have the blessing of their powerful backers. Many local and international NGOs are actively wreaking havoc in Pakistan. International media groups are sponsoring local media groups. There is a growing nexus. The US spy embassy in Pakistan was recently caught supporting the aurat march through social media.

The government initially did a very good thing by intensely scrutinising INGOs. Unfortunately, the US and EU wrote letters to PM IK and Pakistan reversed the decision to screen INGOs. There was a lot of political and economic pressure. Pakistan should start reigning in on INGOs, media and local NGOs. I believe the government needs to reconsider hefty screening. No country allows foreign NGOs to walk through the door and conduct business as they wish. That amounts to suicide.

There will be a lot of noise internally and externally. We need to prepare for a witch hunt, but the government needs to do this for the sake of Pakistan. There will be a threat of blacklisting Pakistan i.e. FATF, various sanctions, blackmail etc. Nothing is more supreme and sacred than the social fabric and stability of a nation.

Focus on strengthening the relationship with China and other friendly nations around the world. These are all difficult decisions to take. I also understand the government is trying to repair 40 years of economic damage by cooperating as much as they can. There are a lot of pressures. This scenario is far from ideal. The government has limitations. However, Pakistan is sooner or later going to have to make firm decisions to take control of the situation. BBC is just one tiny component in the greater scheme of things.
