For years Pakistan has been missing out on regular international cricketing events on home soil; it is often served up as the prime reason why Pakistani cricket has been facing a dearth of new talent in the squad. Despite all the negativity, differences and squabbles with rival boards and politics at home, the game has not lost its allure and Pakistan's heart continues to beat for cricket.

Over the years the Pakistan squad has seen Christians and Hindus represent the country at home and abroad. For the first time a Pakistani Sikh has proven his mettle and has secured a place at the National Cricket Academy, that man is Mahinder Pal Singh.

Mahinder hails from Nankana Sahib and says he is proud to be able to represent the entire Pakistani Sikh community and is proud to have secured a place at the Pakistani Cricket Academy.

In a video circulating on social media Mahinder expressed his desire to make Pakistan proud and thanked his coach and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for having faith and recognizing his talent.
