The only reason I think is a short sightedness of Ayub Khan, who fired 40,000 civil servants who migrated from India, also he band 4000 politicians. Your post is a perfect example of bias,disinformation, Why Capital had to be shifted to Islamabad! Not in prostitution news but actually astonished and embarrassed that a Muslim country has such laws which are totally against Islam. I wanted the member criticizing Ayub on disinformation to know some facts.That's all.

When I say short sightedness, I mean every leader, including Bhutto, never a larger population gets independence, it is always other way around. Bhutto wanted to rule Pakistan at any cost, he mislead the Punjab, that if Mujeeb is PM then he will transfer State Bank, Naval HQ. etc, etc. If Bhutto was not selfish he could have offered Mujeeb a confederation. After Quaid we lost ever thing, and still we are being ruled by the same mind set. They are not interested in the welfare of poor people. They want Pakistan all the time in a crises, to fool people.

I think Ayub was misguided and forced by his advisers to attack India at a time when Pakistan was making good economic progress, I think his advisers were working with the enemy. He could have built the economy for another 20-30 we would have been in a better position for war.

Another Geo representative sitting in this forum.. lol.... do some reading about Green revolution in Pakistan that came during 60's. I recently met with many die hard supporters of Bhutto who served PPP during 70's. Each and every person admitted that Ayub's Era was the best period of Pakistan History. It was absolutely better than Bhutto. Had not Ayub brought green revolution in Pakistan during 60's, we would be another African country in south asia right now.

It was Marshal plan proposed by US. Every country has to fund marshal plan to rebuild Germany. Pakistan was not rich at that time.
