Pakistan Population Boom; Rohingya Ethnic Cleansing

Is Pakistan's growing population a "disaster in the making"? Is it a bigger disaster than the population bust in Europe and East Asia with their aging societies and shrinking labor force? Where will the investment in education, health and job creation come from in Pakistan to meet the growing population? Is there a demographic dividend with Pakistan's labor force growing faster than the overall population? Will growth in labor force help increase domestic savings rate in Pakistan? What is the relationship between GDP growth and job creation? What is Pakistan's employment elasticity relative to other nations in South Asia?

Who are the Rohingya? Why are they being attacked, raped, killed and driven out of their homes in Rakhine state? Why is the Myanmar government and its allied Buddhist militias, including monks, burning Rohingya villages? Is it a "textbook example of ethnic cleansing" as described by the UN Human Rights chief? Why is Nobel Peace laureate Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi defending these actions instead of using her authority, at least her moral authority, to end this nightmare for the Rohingya? What is the world doing about t? What can and should Pakistan and other Muslim nations do to help their fellow Muslim Rohingya?

Viewpoint From Overseas host Misbah Azam discusses these and other questions with panelists Ali H. Cemendtaur and Riaz Haq (www.riazhaq.com)

rohangia mujahidin were attacking burmese army.

Rebels in various states of India has been attacking Indian Army for decades, but did this mean to oust the entire population from the country? The attack probably occurred in between their persecution/ouster but now it is painted as if the attacked occured first then the Burmese govt decided to oust the entire population. A Joke which only fools believe.:)

even in pakistan mass displacement (idp )took during army operation in fata, waziristan, balochistan.

these things happen when you raise gun against army.

once order is established they will return to their homeland .they should keep peace in their own country , mujahidin business is always dangerous .

This is the main point. Army both in India and Pakistan didn't burn villages of IDP's or killed the IDP's(unless it is is some individual collateral damage) to fight Rebels or taliban but did/doing operation against the trouble makers only. Basically mayanmar wants to permanently oust the Muslims of Rohingya from the state/country saying they don't belong to Mayanmar and are immigrants who migrated from Bangladesh during the British times. Bangladesh deny them as their citizens as well.

You see wherever excessive force is used without justification, people will react.

Even the Indian army resorts to behaviour which people respond too appropriately

RAMPUR/NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has kicked up a storm again, this time with remarks about the Indian Army that were on Wednesday condemned by the Bharatiya Janata Party, which urged the SP to "sack" him.

Addressing party activists in Rampur yesterday, the SP national general secretary referred to "shameful violent happenings" in places such as Kashmir, Tripura, Jharkhand and Bengal.

Khan said excesses by security forces had led to "women in some places chopping off the private parts of Army men".The BJP hit out at the SP leader, demanding that his party "sack" him for seeking to "divide the country" on religious lines.

"It has become a fashion in the country to demean the Indian Army in the name of freedom of speech and expression," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in New Delhi, attacking the SP, Congress and the Left for "making statements against the Army".

While the Army protected the borders, the political parties were bent upon "showing it in a poor light", he said.Describing Khan's statement as "shameful", Patra said he was "a repeat offender" who politicised sensitive issues related to defence.

"He has yet again demeaned the Indian Army and I hope his party will sack him," the BJP leader said.Patra referred to the "valour" of the Army when it rescued people in the valley during the floods."Everyone across the globe respects the Indian Army, and because of it we have a vibrant democracy," Patra added.

"But Mr Khan is trying to create a narrative to divide the country on the basis of religion," Patra said, adding that it hit the morale of soldiers fighting cross-border terrorism.

Azam has often triggered controversy with his remarks on rape. He was quoted as telling a rape victim, "If you keep talking about the crime, how will you show your face to the world?".On another occasion, he said mobile phones were responsible for the rape of minors.
