The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the online food price control system.
The system put in place by the Performance Management and Reforms Unit at the chief secretarys offices has been made part of the citizen portal and its mobile app, which were launched earlier last year.
PMRU coordinator Iftikhar Alam told Dawn that the district food price control was another value addition to the citizens portal and its mobile app.
He said it would help the people know about the government-fixed rates for almost all consumer goods, including edibles.
Mr. Alam said the system was launched on Jan 1 and that all districts had linked to it.
He said besides checking prices, the people could also use the system to file complaints with the authorities about high prices and related matters for prompt action.
PMRU deputy coordinator Akif Khan said 914 government departments had been linked with the system from across the province.
He said the deputy commissioners offices all over the province regularly fed the prices of consumer goods to the system.
Mr. Akif said the people could use the app on both smartphones and computer.
He said the citizen gateway mobile app, which was introduced in 2016, had so far been downloaded by more than 40,000 people.
The PMRU deputy coordinator said those using the app also filed around 21,000 complaints using the app.
He said of the complaints, 16,802 were resolved, while majority of the rest were against the federal departments.
3,655 complaints were related to municipal services, 2,399 schools and education, 801 development programmes, 1,118 roads and streets, and 595 encroachments, he said.
Mr. Akif said the development of the citizen portal was meant for fostering a culture of participative governance in the province and providing a comprehensive forum to the provinces citizens through which they could contact their respective district governments on matters related to the service delivery and other issues affecting their day-to-day life.
