On Arrival of Dr. Tahirul Qadri in Pakistan.
I would like to drop some lines about the arrival of Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri Sb. Since Dr. sb has decided to come back from Canada after around 7 years of his self exile. I am a watchful critique of Dr. Sb because I have lost many years of youth with him. I acknowledge his contributions and at the same time I have strong reservations on his inconsistent, approaches in his throughout institutional trajectory of change (Inqalab).
Let me put glance on his inconsistency in his ways to change the system. He has founded Adara-e-Minhajul Quan in 1983. He has decided that he will not join the politics and he will continue his efforts for ‘Tat’heer-e-afkar aur tamer-e-kirdar” through extensive dawah. But in May 25, 1989 he has launched a political party named Pakistan Awami Tehreek and went through the elections held in 1990 throughout the country. It should also be bear in the mind that, in his start of political career, he declared that he will not contest any election and will not hold any state or political office. He will work as team maker to reform the political system in the country.
Soon after elections he left the politics and went for dawah and had worked in educational sector. He spent there 6 years and spread an extended net of Minhajul Quran Schools in country network, though the quality of education was not very much satisfactory in these institutions, nonetheless he succeeded to build Minhajul Quran Schools across the country. He also worked on higher education and chartered a university named The Minhaj University.
In 1997 he came back again in the politics and become the part of an alliance against Nawaz Sharif govt. He became the first president of Pakistan National Alliance. In 1999 he by true letter and spirit supported the Musharf’s coo.
He then raised money in the name of ‘Inqalab-e-Mustafvui Fund (IMF)’ for 2002 elections from Pakistani Diasporas round the globe. I think more than 50 Karor PKR was raised in the slogan of “Now or Never”. This money is spent in the elections where the position of PAT was very obvious i.e. one seat of Chairman PAT.
After assassination of Azam Tariq, he spent tens of thousands of rupees of IMF on bye-elections of his son Hassan Mohayideen in NA 89 Jhang on 22 June, 2004. After 3 months and 08 days of the bye-election where his son defeated badly, on October 01, 2012 he has resigned from the membership of National Assembly and put 59 pages resigned to the house and went to Canada in self exile.
He once again revealed a different plan after 8 years of self exile to reform the Pakistan politics where he again spent millions of dollars on promoting the agenda, when:
The incumbent parliament most likely has reformed the constitution
The first ever democratic transition of power in the country is around the corner
The Supreme Court is empowered enough to impeached the PM even.
The transparent, noncontroversial and competent Chief Election Commissioner has been appointed
The political parties have succeeded to delimited and define the political role of agencies and establishment
One more bitter reality is that he is failed to formulate a democratic, efficient and vibrant central working committee for his party even.
He is life time Chairman of PAT, he is life time ‘Sarparast-e-aala Minhajul Quran”. His elder son Hassan Mohayudeen has become the president of Supreme Council of Minhajul Quaran while he was of 25 only. While his younger son Hussain Mohayudeen is president of Federal Council. Moreover, perhaps Baji Mrs. Ghazala Hassan Mohayudeen is member of Supreme Council too.
He put all the efforts to bring masses at Minar-e-Pakistan on December 23, 2012 without having any substantial plan to reform the electoral system.
This effort once again, waist the time, money and energies of vulnerable middle Pakistanis. My prediction is that after having some jalsa’s and TV talk shows Dr. sb once again will left the cause of electoral reform and went back to Canada in self exile within one and half year disappointingly.
My opinion is that Dr sb is expert of subject matter of Aqeeda-e-Rislat and Fann-e-Hadith, he has grip on these issues he should speak and write on the issues. He should work in his area of expertise for maximum contribution of his energies rather to made non result oriented experiences as short term project.
