Ofcom officially confirms it has shut down ARY in UK

Ofcom has confirmed that it has revoked six licences of ARY Network in the UK after three of its channels, ARY Digital, ARY News and ARY QTV were removed from Sky and Virgin Media today.

While Im glad justice is at work here, but frankly, the loss of ARY UK is not a hit for ARY. At worst, they will lose the small amount of advertising revenue they generated from the local desi lawyers, restaurants etc. Their main bread and butter is still ARY Digital in Pakistan. And as for UK viewers, IPTV is becoming extremely commonplace in the western world. People are cutting off their cables in large numbers. Internet TV, plus one of many apps out there, and you have ARY Pakistan streaming into UK. There is a reason why ARY happily filed for bankruptcy in UK.

I think UK gov is protecting her asset and playing a role while staying clean. Geo has won here but still we all know Geo has it's own agenda, While I agree ARY was very immature and playing very cheap tactics,

the worst thing was their news readers used to cut the reporter mid-sentence.

Yes its true , we cant see it even in Norway becoz its being broadcasted fra UK. Now i know the reason . I guess its a good step which will promote responsible journalism and other channel should stick with news only , ARY was crossing all boundaries in professional jealousy.
