No promised change in sight in KPK

PESHAWAR - Though the deadline given by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to eliminate corruption, ensure good governance system and speedy justice to people of the province in 90 days expired on August 31, there is nothing on ground to show that any of these targets has been achieved.

On May 31, in his maiden address to the provincial assembly, the chief minister claimed the people would see a real change for which they would have not to wait for months. Gone are the days when there were rosy speeches but no practical steps, he had said.
The deadline of 90 days had been set by the PTI itself, not by the people, to root out corruption and solve other major problems. It was for this reason that in the May 11 polls, KPK people voted for PTI. It was a vote for change, a change to minimise their problems, provide to them jobs and security, end corruption and lawlessness.
However, in background interviews, people said they had pinned high hopes on the PTI government, while 90 days were not enough for brining a revolution in each sector. The dirt of over 60 years cannot be cleansed in just 90 days. Political observers said: If there is a will, there is surely a way. We have so far seen just claims as there is nothing new. Neither corruption stopped, nor was justice ensured.
Disappointed by the provincial governments 90-day performance, some of them said three months are enough for making a little improvement. Corruption is on in police, revenue and excise and taxation departments working under the governments nose. Moreover, 90 days are sufficient even to give a direction to directionless traffic system. All is well in government books, but facts are something else.
The government officials are not doing their jobs without receiving illegal gratifications. People are not getting speedy justice despite the fact that the PTI government has been claiming it has zero tolerance for corruption.
To implement the PTI reforms agenda within 90 days, the government had instructed all commissioners, deputy commissioners, secretaries, assistant commissioners and police officials to take effective steps for eradication of corruption and culture of commission by August 31. But, no change is visible. No disciplinary action has so far been taken against officials for their involvement in corruption.
The question arises if everything is alright. On routine basis, transfers and postings of government officials of personal liking and disliking are taking place. Moreover, PTI had claimed it would end corruption within 90 days. Could they end corruption in KPK in 90 days? It has so far proved just a slogan as there is corruption in each and every sector. The deadline expired on Sunday and there is nothing admirable or even visible on ground to give its credit to the provincial government. The PTI government is functioning under the sharpest watch of the media on one side, while on other; the electorates are eagerly waiting for the change in terms of reforms in every sphere of governance.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan had also promised a change in the province. Now his party is in power to meet the promise as people of KPK had risen to Khans call.
It is suggested that the PTI government should first understand and rationalise the existing problems and then formulate and implement feasible solutions to them.
There is no change in the existing justice system. The KPK government plans to introduce accountability act, but it has so far proved just a claim. Talking to this scribe, the people said there has been nothing on ground so far to praise PTI for that. In a statement, KPK CMs Media Coordinator Sheraz Piracha has said only those government officials who are not performing their official duties honestly, efficiently and with professionalism are scared of the deadline of August 31.
After the deadline of August 31, people will come to know about the priorities and measures of the provincial government; and this deadline would be a starting point for a positive change in the province. He said there would be no room for those who do not respect the people and believe in their exploitation instead of serving them.
On the completion of 90 days period, CM Pervez Khattak, while speaking to media persons, said: His government is introducing reforms in various departments to facilitate the masses. During these 90 days, no allegation of corruption was levelled against his government. The PTI government was committed to eliminating corruption. The provincial government is able to bring about real and positive changes in the province. The previous provincial governments had promoted corruption, lawlessness, mismanagement and poor governance, but we will set an example of good governance and ensure a corruption-free system.

Yes KpK has shown no change no progress but the rest of paksitan is rapidly changing. Federal govt under PM nawaz sharif has fulfilled almost all of the promises and bullet train is just round the corner.Punjab has changed totally, no load shedding , no corruption, shebaz sharif has delivered almost 80 % of his promises.
KPK is far behind and needs to be pointed out.

People who did not question countless fake promises of ruling elites for past 30/40 years, i wonder on what ground they question about the first 90 days of PTI govt in KPK... at least they are trying hard and haven't backed off of their claims just like the central govt who ran away from all the promises they made one by one in first 2 months...(thumbsdown)

if someone wants proofs about the promises made by pml n ppp anp jui f........ Search this forum, my time is precious:P

After reading the whole 'essay' only found one main point the the author identified Pti govt should do:

"It is suggested that the PTI government should first understand and rationalise the existing problems and then formulate and implement feasible solutions to them."

Lol it seems like some amateur wrote this in a hurry to earn a quick buck... All nonsense..

Wow you can read whole article in 3 min :13:. It shows how much you are blind .

What a Dumb article, very narrow minded, politically biased, in 90 days a direction has been set, you will see results in 2 years.

Noora has not even set a direction for the country, he says power crisis will be fixed in 1 year,

and his mister khwaja says power crisis is here to stay get use to it.

Only place that will be shining in 2 years will be KP, rest of punjab, sindh, and Balochistan, will get worse.

Noora and his cronies and Maulana Fazool will get richer. Everyone else will suffer.

In Pakistan's history, we have been used to lies and fake promises though we didn't say anything. Now there is a govt in KPK who have a mandate, vision and a plan

People are thinking in 90 days KPK should become like Dubai or London but that will not happen. Just see the initial changes in governance and structure which are implemented. This is itself a bigger change than what was achieved in last 60 years

Isn't mobile court, cleaning driver, education policy a change?

I am truly amazed at critics in general and the bias they are showing. You can argue that things need to move quicker. But saying that nothing has changed and nothing has been achieved is a gross misstatement. More has happened and is happening in KP than any other province. On the legislative site the Right to Information Bill, Ehtisaab bill and the near completion local bodies, e-governance and right to service bills are good progress indeed and these laws are aimed at changing the systems within which bureacracy is working. In other areas, be it power generation, education, health police reform tangible steps on the ground have been and are being taken. People who work with the provincial government are all praise on how the atmosphere in the central KP secretariat has changed. I can easily elaborate on each of the above areas and come up with all the detailed steps that have already been initiated. Can someone tell us what the other provinces including Punjab have achieved in the same period?

Interestingly, the writer has written off the impact of the deadline given by the CM till the August 31 on the immediate next day i.e. 01 September. This is how keen PTI critics are to write it off. Unfortunately, people and critics only term tangible things like roads, trains etc. as achievement and ignore the equally important aspects like changes to systems of governance. Anyway, with the Peshawar mass transit program and the Peshawar uplift plan I hope these myopic critics will be satisfied.

I don't know about the paid circulated news in the media about KPK but I have been talking to my cousin from Peshawar about KPK situation. His father is my uncle Engineer working for Planning & Development Department, KPK. Govt employees are under immense pressure from CMKPK. They have been given projects with deadline and they are under pressure from CM and the Govt. My uncle is a very honest & religious person and he had many complaints previously from the govt because of corruption and commission culture in development projects. Now things are different. To meet the projects deadline staff are punctual & regular in attendance. After installation of new attendance system everyone is attending ane leaving the office on time. Govt servants attending offices in Pakistan is a big change for me. One complaint from some senior department head was the pressure this Govt is putting on them for projects as all such projects take time and KP Govt is in a hurry for everything. IT Department is also under pressure from the KP Govt as they want new IT System to monitor the system up and running. One other development was in Ministry of Health where they are recruiting Doctors (Recruitment of doctor is a headache as most of them are busy in private sector where they can make more money). I am hopeful in seeing the fruitful results of all these upcoming projects in next few months in-Sha-Allah.

One thing is obvious that when PTI was busy in Intra-party election media and Noon spread negative propaganda in simple words we call it Noora Kushti style. PTI should also keep few spokes person for these liars in media because they don't want to see the change in the country.
