PESHAWAR - The Awami National Party (ANP) leader Senator Zahid Khan Saturday strongly rejected the proposed provincial level All Parties Conference (APC) by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and said there is no justification to convene the APC by a provincial government on the matters upon which all stakeholders have already supported the federal government.
Talking to The Nation, he said there is no justification to call APC by a provincial government on talks with Taliban because government, army, political and religious parties have also backed the federal government on the matter. “I don’t know on what matters, the KPK is convening the APC”. Yes, we have called APC on talks with TTP Swat and Swat comes under the control of provincial government.
While PTI government is calling APC on talks with TTP that means TTP FATA and the area is not part of the province. FATA is governed by federal government,” he explained. He asked the PTI leadership that instead of convening APC condemns TTP’s acts first.
“Obviously, it is an attempt to divert people attention from real issues. Because, the PTI has governed KPK for more than 100-day and there is actually nothing on ground to be called change, as people have given votes for a change,” he said. So far, the PTI has failed to have fulfilled even a single pledge that it had promised during election campaign. “Yes, a real change has come in KPK by nominating 32 parliamentary secretaries.
It has never been in the past. Isn’t it a change,” he questioned, adding that PTI is going for scoring points but people know the reality, they cannot be deceived anymore.
It is worth to mention here that a day before, KPK Minister for Information Shah Farman has told reporters after the provincial assembly session that PTI-led government has decided to convene its own APC as national consensus is emerging on peace talks with Taliban.
The KPK government, which had earlier said that the issue of militancy was the prime responsibility of the federal government, has now decided to convene APC at the provincial level.
