ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday decided to hire returning officers from bureaucracy for the next general elections.
The decision was taken in the wake of judiciarys refusal to nominate judges for the job two weeks ago.
According to officials, ECP will require the services of 1200 returning officers for the elections.
In addition, ECP has linked the installation of biometric system with legislation.
In the last general elections, judges role came under scrutiny from various political parties for their alleged role in election irregularities.
