At UN, Pakistan seeks independent inquiry into killings in Kashmir
Notwithstanding India’s sharp response, Pakistan has demanded a UN-backed independent and transparent inquiry into the “extra-judicial” killings in Kashmir, terming the situation there a “grave threat to peace and security”.

Speakers concerned over Indian brutalities in Occupied Kashmir
ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a round table discussion on Thursday showed their deep concern that Indian aggression and brutality over Kashmiris elapses for more than six decades and Indian forces scar humanity with their acts of violence and bloodshed. General Raheel Sharif’s statement on IOK situation
ISLAMABAD : Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said on Wednesday that the world needs to recognise the aspiration of Kashmiri people and their struggle for freedom from the occupying forces. While condemning the killings of Kashmiri youth executed by Indian forces, General Raheel said the international community should help resolve the long-standing dispute for enduring peace in the region. He was chairing the Corps Commander Conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi where the army’s top brass took an in- depth review of the country’s internal security situation, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says unarmed Kashmiris cannot be deterred from their rightful struggle for self-determination on gunpoint. In a statement, he said right to self-determination is just demand of Kashmiris in the light of UN resolutions. The Prime Minister urged India to respect human rights in Occupied Kashmir. He called on India to fulfill its commitment to hold plebiscite in Kashmir to ascertain will of the people for their future alignment with either Pakistan or India. The Prime Minister expressed concern and deep sorrow over killing of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani and other innocent Kashmiris at the hands of India troops. He said massacre of citizens by Indian forces is condemnable and use of force against Kashmiris is regrettable. Nawaz Sharif also expressed concerns over continued house arrest of Kashmiri leaders.
