Naveed Hussain hanged over judges murder case in Adiyala Jail

RAWALPINDI: A death row prisoner Naveed Hussain from Gilgit was executed in in the wee hours of Tuesday morning in Adiyala Jail Today.Naveed Hussain held his last meeting with his father Fida Ali, his brothers and cousins on Monday, besides his other relatives for more than two hours.Naveed Hussain was arrested by Gilgit police on June 24, 2006 on the charges of murder,

sectarian violence and terrorism. Later he was convicted by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and awarded the death sentence.He was also involved in the murder of an ATC judge Jamshed Jadoon in June 2006.Justice Jadoon served in an ATC in Gilgit in 2006 when sectarian bloodshed plagued the whole region after the slaying of a prominent Shia cleric Syed Zia Udin Rizvi. Judge Jadoon was killed in an ambush at a park in Gilgit as he was out for his daily walk.The ATC convicted Naveed Hussain for the murder of the judge and his appeals in higher courts were also rejected. The supreme appellate and chief courts rejected his appeal against the ATCs sentence.

After his mercy appeals were dismissed by the President of Pakistan, the court of law issued his death warrants on January 4.Naveed Hussain is said to have been held in Adiala Jail for few months.Civil Society and local leaders different groups have expressed serious concern over execution of Naveed Hussain and also appealed to Army Chief and President of Pakistan to hanged the real culprits of Aga Zia Uddin Rizvi whose killers are still at large.
