Salman Kazmi, a coordinator to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi, was gunned down in a firing incident in District Central of Karachi late on Wednesday night.



Kazmi, 35, was shot by armed men inside a barbers shop in Naseerabad locality near Ayesha Manzil within the limits of Jauharabad police station.

He was shot once and succumbed to his injuries during medical treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A large number of people including leaders and workers of the party also reached the hospital and shouted against the incident.


Jauharabad SHO Anila Qadir said that the initial investigation suggests that it was not an act of target killing but he was killed as he resisted during a robbery at the barbers shop. However, further investigations still going on.
Deceased Kazmi used to live in Gulberg locality and was a director at the KMCs land department.


No case had been registered till the filing of this report.
Earlier, the target killing toll in the city rose to ten in 24 hours. On Wednesday afternoon, Binoria town seminary teacher was killed in Hyderi area of Karachi.

I think that MQM is behind recent sectarian killings. They were involved in PAst as well and on all such occasions Altaf hussain came out and condemned attacks but he was the person behind it.

[h=1]MWM Accuses MQM For Targetted Killing Of Shia Muslims In Karachi[/h]on November 5, 2013
KARACHI: Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslmeen (MWM) Chief Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri has accused Mutahida Qomi Movement (MQM) for targeted killing of Shia Muslims in Karachi, MWM Leader was talking to the live on Dawn News TV’s “News Eye Program”, The Shia Post reported.
Allama Amin Shaheedi has also briefed the media persons during his press conference in Islamabad regarding the recently received threats on mobile phone.
City police chief Shahid Hayat confirmed the killings saying five members of the Shia community were shot dead in several districts.
A doctor was shot dead in Manghopir neighbourhood in western district and another was gunned down around noon at Tariq Road in the eastern part of the city.
They were identified by police as Dr Sher Ali and Dr Naseem Zaidi.
“The killing pattern shows that they were apparently carried out on sectarian grounds,” Javed Alam Odho, the deputy inspector general of police told AFP.
The other two victims were killed in central district when unknown attackers burst into a tailor’s shop and opened fire.
The owner and a worker were killed and three others were injured.
“The attack seemed to be on sectarian lines as all of the people inside the shop were Shias,” senior police officer Aamir Farooqi said.
The fifth killing took place in Gulshane Iqbal town where a Shia youth was shot dead by gunmen riding a motorbike, Pir Mohammad Shah, a senior police officer told AFP.
Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM), an alliance of Shia Muslim groups held protest rallies and sit-ins in different parts of Karachi to condemn the killings.
