BJP has only lost 17-19 seats as compared to last Bihar elections. This is because of the multi-party alliance against BJP. Bihar anyways has never been a stronghold of BJP due to anti-communal politics. Even Congress fares averagely there. Quite a few muslims strong electoral pockets are present. The most important factor is the majority consists of Dalits and other scheduled casts who vote for Nitesh who himself belongs from a low caste of Hindus.
