The study revealed that campus placements in the new b-schools has gone down by 40 per cent since 2009.

Barring graduates from IIMs, the b-schools are losing fast shine of attracting corporate India Inc. for campus recruitment and are increasingly facing their survivals, with only 10 per cent of graduates being actually employable despite the robust demand for MBAs, says a survey by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

The Assocham paper on 'b-schools and Engineering colleges shut down- Big Business Struggles' reveals that since 2009, the recruitments at the campus have gone down by 40 per cent in the year of 2012.

As a result the b-schools and engineering colleges are not able to attract students with more than 180 b-schools have already closed down in 2012 in the major cities Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Dehradun, while another 160 are struggling for their survivals.

DS Rawat, Secretary General Assocham said that there is no quality control, the placements are not commensurate with fees being charged, the faculty is not good enough and there is no infrastructure.

"The biggest reason for the gap is the rapid mushrooming of tier-2 and tier-3 management education institutes that has unfortunately not been matched by commensurate uplift in the quality of management education.

The most of students prefer to choose cheaper AICTE approved programs rather than b-schools," said Rawat.

"The need to update and re-train faculty in emerging global business perspectives is practically absent in many b-schools, often making the course content redundant," adds the paper.

Rawat further said that the quality of higher education in India across disciplines is poor and does not meet the needs of the corporate world.
About 160 schools offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses are expected to close this year.
Only 10 per cent of graduates from Indian business schools excluding those from the top 20 schools get a job straight after completing their course, compared with 54 per cent in 2008, highlight the paper.

Some students expressed that the business schools promote their brands only on placement and by boasting about high salaries.

They offer theoretical courses which lacks practical skills required by the corporate sector today, mentioned the paper.

Indeed an alarming situation. Pakistan has improved on this by making the Higher Education Commission a good functioning department of the government and Pakistan can definitely assist INdia should it be requested to.

We want to ensure that the standard of education in India improves .:)

[h=1]75% of Indian IT graduates are unemployable[/h]Posted by By Mark Hillary at 7 April, at 17 : 30 PM

In the last few weeks, IT Decisions has had some interesting conversations with IT decision-makers at multinational firms about the characteristics of their Brazil IT operations compared to similar technology centres around the world.
Many Brazilians start work at 18, rather than heading off to a leafy university town to drink excessively and study full-time – when not suffering a hangover. Full-time university education is something that is taken for granted in many countries and leads to highly-educated young people at 21 or 22 seeking a job without ever having worked anywhere other than a fast-food restaurant or bar.
Also, many Brazilian parents idealise the university experience and, if they can possibly afford it, they try to ensure that their own child can take three or four more years in education without needing to work, but for most it is straight into work at 18, with college in the evening and a degree after four or five years.
Looking at this from the point of view of the industry, it’s better to get young people out to work as soon as possible. As Jacques Depocas, center head at HSBC Global Technology pointed out, he can hire fresh graduates at 23 years old who already have four or five years work experience. Real experience writing real software at a real company in the real world, not ‘work experience’ programs or ‘internships’.
And this is in stark contrast to India where a report from the national hi-tech trade body Nasscom today indicates that only 25% of Indian college graduates are ready to work in the IT industry, and only 15% are ready for back office jobs.
The IT companies in India are collectively spending over $1bn to train graduates just so they are fit to work. Many firms are actively seeking out students who did not study engineering or IT because smart students from other disciplines can be more quickly brought up to speed than an IT graduate who is incapable of working in a team.
Much of the IT industry training effort in Brazil has been focused on the need to improve English language skills across the industry, but thanks to the large amount of students who start work while they are still teenagers, there is no need to train graduates how to work in teams, communicate with peers, or show up to the office on time.
Many Brazilian companies have probably not realised how fortunate they are – in India this is where IT companies need to start with their new graduate employees.

I am not sure why we talk about India. What is the importance for Pakistanis if there are 90% MBA are un-employed.
Importance is how many are employed in Pakistan.

ANd then we blame Geo News if they show news about katrina birthday or shahrukh new son or Ayshweria pregnancy etc.

We talk because we are concerned people and India is our neighbour ...we want to make sure that the good we think for ourselves is also what our neighbour enjoys (bigsmile). Afterall is it good to produce idiots as graduates who wont find jobs ??

Those graduates have spent a huge amount of money into getting this education and their parents have dreams as well just like Pakistanis, so why should they spend so much money ONLY to find out later that they wont find a job ??:)

Thats why we want them to go into fields where they can find a job or atleast NOT spend money or open a business with that money instead of selling their mothers jewellery, or sisters dowry etc !:)

Think Good and Good will happen to you (bigsmile)

sorry you have no skills (bigsmile)...why dont you get some vocational training like carpentry, or basket weaving and then try to apply for jobs. If not as an MBA you can apply for jobs in Pakistan.

you can apply for any job in Pakistan through this site : http://www.mustakbil.com/
