You mean to say you weren't from the 1800 or so people out of 220M people that got surveyed? Surprise, surprise. As an FYI, you can still extrapolate with a high confidence level that the values sampled are a good representation of the population means/proportions.

Basically you doubted the veracity of the survey based on the fact that you yourself had not been sampled. I was suggesting that there is a very small likelihood that you will be surveyed (usual surveys of this size sample 1800 people from a population of 220 million). However, this does not mean that the samples are not representative of the full population. This is the beauty of statistics that you can state, with a high degree of confidence, that the results obtained from the survey are representative of the entire population at large (as long as survey is done randomly).
