We should all seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) that as a community and a society we all have our responsibilities to look into the lives of the ones around us and guide/help them. I think that is the main reason why Allah (SWT) Has liked for us to pray in the mosque so that people should meet each other and get to know about each others problems. However, to the people who see this as an evil of illiteracy, then please refer to google and search for yourself that how many very literate people committed suicide... Ernest Hemingway, whose novels were in our syllabus in college time (the Old man and the Sea) also committed suicide, George Eastman (Founder of Eastman Kodak company) also committed suicide.... and they were not from our society.... The psycho-kinetics of suicide are related to some social or mental disorders .... the first sociologist who took the very first intensive research on the subject was Emile Durkheim, but he also committed suicide......... I think that it is our responsibility to look after the people around us and see that if they are developing any signs where it may lead to some negativity, since it is our duty about which we shall be held answerable, probably as much or may be more seriously than Namaz. Adding something from my personal observations, I have seen that people who are rather too much emotional (hyper) commit such an act or the people who are too much withdrawn also are susceptible to such ideas and their withdrawal is caused by some extreme depression. However, both of the types, if given proper community support (e.g. friends, relatives etc) can develop the ability to refrain from such negative thoughts, but if they don't find any support, then they just rationalize these negative axioms.
I will again like to stress that it is the duty of the community... and I also recall the words of Einstein that " We are living in a dangerous world, not because of the people who are bad, but because of the people who don't do anything about it".
