Man arrested over cricket 'betting scam' bailed

The man at the centre of cricket betting scam allegations concerning the Pakistan team has been bailed without charge, Scotland Yard said.
The News of the World claims it paid a middleman for details of three no-balls later bowled by Pakistan as predicted.
Mazhar Majeed, 35, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers.
Meanwhile, three Pakistan players have been questioned by police over claims they were involved in the alleged scam.
Their team manager, Yawar Saeed, said cricket was not "institutionally corrupt" in Pakistan and the claims were unproven.
The allegations relate to three no-balls delivered by Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif on Thursday and Friday. A no-ball occurs when a bowler oversteps the line behind which balls should be delivered.
Scotland Yard said Mr Majeed, 35, was bailed to appear before police at a future date.
Despite the allegations, the fourth and final Test went ahead at Lord's, with England winning the series 3-1.

Although i m not denying the involvement of our players.most of them has a greed for money and not pushed at all about the reputation of country, but there might have been a trap against us and our players accepted the bait and now they r trapped. PHASEE DA PHADKEN KEY.

Bail is not the big issue .... The investigation is still continuing. In England, you cannot hold someone on such an offence for more than 24 hours and you have to give them either bail or if the offence is quite serious such as murder, terrorism etc., they ask the magistrate/judge for more time. The bail does not mean the guy is not guilty ... Remember in western world, when you go to the court, you have to have a solid case with clear evidence and these type of investigations take some time. We have to wait and see what happens in the next few days as things unfold.

amir and asif may turn out to be wasim and waqar in few years time.....wasnt it a good idea to destroy their career before they even start flying ???

and why is it that every time our teams visit australia and england they come up with these sort of scandals ?

ummmm??? is it because we are cheats? don't lynch me, I am just asking. Introspection is a trait we are badly lacking

When was the last time any other team did this. Wasim, Waqar, as good as they were never won anything for the country. How they conspired against Miandad is a disgrace. The fact that Inzi despite trying hard couldn't surpass Miandad's record to me sounds like devine justice.

Some people on this forum might remember when people of Pakistan denied these allegations on Wasim Akram, Salim Malick and Aijaz Ahmed and all three were eventually fined by the Pakistani courts in different ways which proved all three were involved in match fixing and made tonnes of money by selling the nation's trust.

This is action replay which proves that these beghairat cricketers will sell their mother, sisters and daughters if the price is right. Shame on them and people supporting them. I say hand them over to people of Sialkot for two hours and make a video.
