Imran Khan, Shahbaz Sharif, Pir Sadruddin Shah and Moonis Elahi lose vacated seats in by-polls.
LAHORE (Dunya News) The two main rival parties PML-N and PTI faced big upsets in the by-elections as both parties lost important seats in the by-elections.
The seats were vacated by the key leaders of PML-N and PTI after being elected on more than one seat in the general elections. According to unofficial results, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour of ANP has won from NA-1 Peshawar-1 with a large majority by defeating PTIs candidate Gul Badshah.
In the general elections PTI chief Imran Khan had defeated ANP leader Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour at this seat by securing 90, 500 votes, while Ghulam Ahmad Bilour could receive only 24, 468 votes. Imran Khan left this seat vacant as he was also elected on two other seats from Mianwali and Rawalpindi.
PTI also faced a great upset on NA-71 Mianwali where Abdullah Khan Shadikhail of PML-N won by securing 85, 836 while PTIs Nawabzada Waheed could receive 70, 885 votes. PTI chief Imran Khan had won from this constituency in the general elections securing 133, 224 votes.
PML-N too faced a big upset by losing two important seats of Punjab Assembly in DG Khan and Rajanpur.
PTIs Ali Raza Dareshak defeated Abdul Qadir Mamdot on PP-247-Rajanpur-1 by securing 39,200 votes. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had won this seat in the general elections but later he vacated this seat. The PML-N also faced a big upset in Dera Ghazi Khan where Ahmad Ali Khan Daresshak of PTI won on PP-243 by securing 23102 votes. He defeated Hasamuddin Khan Khosa and Saifuddin Khan Khosa, sons of PML-Ns senior leader Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa who won this seat in the general elections.
Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa despite being a Senator contested election from this seat in the general elections and won by defeating his son Sardar Muhammad Saifuddin Khan, who had left PML-N and contested election on a PPP ticket. Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa later left this seat vacant.
It is worth mentioning here that the winners of PTI were also candidates from the same seats in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur in the general elections. Sardar Ali Raza Khan Dareshak contested as an independent candidate from PP-247 Rajanpur-1 and Ahmad Ali Khan Dareshak contested on PTI ticket from PP-243DG Khan-4.
PML-N also faced upset in Okara on PP-193 where Mian KhuramJehangir Watto of PPP defeated Noor-ul-Amin Watto. This seat was vacated by PML-N. Moreover, PML-Q also faced upset in Mandi Bahauddin where PML-Ns Chaudhry Akhtar Abbas won from PP-118 by securing 33, 367 votes. This seat was vacated by PML-Qs key leader Chaudhry Moonis Ilahi.
In Sindh, PPPs Shazia Mari won from NA-235 Sanghar-II by defeating PML-F and other candidate. Pir Sadruddin Shah of PML-F had vacated this seat in general elections.
