CHITRAL: The last letter of Deputy Commissioner Chitral Osama Warraich, who died in Wednesdays deadly plane crash in Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, surfaced on social media forums.In his letter addressed to the Commissioner of Malakand Division, Osama Warraich requested a five-day station leave from December 8 to 12.The late DC was to attend an annual meeting of SDC funded project of Agha Khan Rural Support
Programme in Islamabad.
He wrote that in his absence, Additional Deputy Commissioner would look after the affairs of the district and dispose of routine matter.Osama Warraich, his wife and only daughter were killed along with 44 passengers and crew members when their flight PK661 crashed into the mountainous region of Havelian due to engine malfunction.
Osama Ahmed Warraich was the deputy commissioner of Chitral and was very popular among local population for his tremendous efforts to help rehabilitate the Oct 26 earthquake victims.Osama, a young DMG officer of 37 Common, graduated from the civil services academy in 2010.
He then joined the KPK civil service corps as assistant commissioner, Abbottabad.He later went on to serve as ADC Peshawar before getting posted as deputy commissioner Chitral in 2015.His elder brother Saad Ahmed Warraich of 32 Common is working with foreign services and posted in USA.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and others expressed profound grief over his death in the plane crash.
